A little salt for your Civic?piscorpio 12-30-2001, 01:01 PM Ok, this one is for all you guys in cold climates. Yesterday, my poor little car, that suffers without a garage, was blanketed in salt. It was literally white from top to bottom! (How the hell does salt get on your roof anyway!?) So what do you guys do to keep your rides clean during the cold months of winter? I went to the brushless car wash and kinda rinsed it off with the sprayer, but the water froze on my car almost immediately! By the way, can a layer of ice on your car be damaging in itself? xivera 12-30-2001, 01:45 PM Maan, I know what you mean dude! :( Without care over a lo0o0ong period of time, that salt sh*t will eat away at any car's paint. Prior to my garage days, I tried to get the car washed every month (I am a stickler for the hand-wash!) but, before the winter season would begin, I would do a 3-step wax/polish/buff-thingie with Mother's stuff. Dude, just go to Meguiars website for that prescription-thingie for your car. As long as you follow it, you should be fine. I recommend the following hand car wash places (because it's too damned cold! :D ): Purrfect on Pulaski (S of Montrose) sometimes they have good rates another place on Pulaski (N of Wilson) excellent wash for a lil bit higher Those were the closest to me when I went w/o a garage. Perhaps, you'll find something else... madtownhonda 12-30-2001, 02:54 PM I take the civic to the Octopus wash...it's an indoor heated carwash where a bunch of guys wash it, wax it, and dry it:D I know what you mean though, the salt is all over the car right now, not on the roof though:confused: b16a2si 12-30-2001, 03:05 PM I go to an indoor heated brushless carwash at Marathon. It's fairly cheap considering the carwash washes under the car and waxes my car. I'm just hoping that my car can go through this year since it's been lowered with Eibach Sportline.:smoker2: piscorpio 12-30-2001, 07:21 PM Originally posted by xivera Maan, I know what you mean dude! :( Without care over a lo0o0ong period of time, that salt sh*t will eat away at any car's paint. CivSiGuy 12-30-2001, 09:06 PM I haven't gotten the Civic out for this winter, but last winter mine got belted with salt (roof too) when I was on the highway for a while. I take it to an indoor automatic wash and get her sprayed off twice a month. Belldandy 12-31-2001, 02:00 AM Salt is tasty. Anyhow it shouldn't be too bad for the car as long as u like wax it before the winter season comes and don't leave the salt on the car too long. Oh yeah about the water freezing on the car hehe that happend to me last year which was pretty bad. I just brought it to a warmer area and continued on. kicker1_solo 12-31-2001, 11:37 PM yuo should get a car cover for it when you're not driving it. Such as at night and such. SiRedge 01-01-2002, 05:35 AM LOL I was waiting for someone to suggest a car cover! Simple solution! :D Unless, of course, it gets stolen... you won't believe the lengths they go to. praxis 01-01-2002, 08:50 PM LICK IT OFF AND TAKE A SHOT OF TEQUILA... just kidding. I think that the steps mentioned above are suffice. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
