If you had $2500, what would you do?

I recently came across $2,500 dollars that I'm planning on spending on my car. I already decided on getting a cat back exhaust from Greddy (Evo 2?) or 5Zigen (Fireball). I want to spend the rest on my suspension. What do you recomend for a 1999 Civic DX? I want something that has a very smooth ride, won't scrap my bumper as i'm pulling into a driveway, and handles great. What are your set ups? I heard that i just can't buy a set of springs, install them, and call it done. You have to change out everything right? The struts, the coilovers, the whole deal right?

Well you could just do the springs but it either won't handle good or will ride like crap depending on how stiff and low the springs are.

How serious are you about the modds to the car. Is this just for fun drives every once in a while or do you want to be competative in autocross events? What side of the two extremes are you leaning toward?

Another question is can you do the install yourself or know anyone that is knowledgable that can help you? Doing it yourself can save you a shit load of money.

I dont see competative autocross events in the future, so i'm just looking for something that will reduce the fendergap, handle well, and not scrap my bumpers as i pull into driveway. Its a daily driver that tends to do a lot of grocery shopping, so i a smooth ride is a must. As far at all the work needed to do it, I can do it with the help of a few people as long as there isn't any welding involved.

Better handleing ...without scrapping? i scrap and i am not even lowered. i would say get stiffer springs but not lowering springs and get some softer shocks. This should improve the handling when it comes to body roll but still keep it sorta smooth...bouncy though but it wont be bumpy. if you get what i am saying. Strut bars too. It will feel more solid in the turn too.

Well when you lower your car you just have to be extra careful on inclines. I lowered my car with Eibach pro kits and KYB Agx and they ride and handle great for daily driving. Without a front lip you will not have to worry much about scraping. The lip that I have on my car will lightly scrape sometimes on steeper inclines, but scraping is something I hardly ever have to worry about with the conservative 1.3" drop. You don't have to worry about the camber either.

I'd post a pic so you can see the difference but Imagestation is being a pain right now. WIll try later.

*edit* hope these work, if not they'll hopefull work later when imagestation isn't down.

hmmm don't have a Civic anymore, so my plans with $2500 would be different than everyone else's, but I feel like whoring. First I would get the Nismo Exhaust and spring and shock kit. Then Stillen 2 piece front lip, Spec V 17" rims, Bridgestone S-03 in 225/40/17 (i believe that is the correct size). and paint the lip. That would probably take up the majority of the $2500.

Bought the springs and struts from coximports.com. Great service and I recieved everything within 5 days of ordering. If you go to that site check the "hotlist" to see whats on sale.

Hey man ive got a 98 civic DX chassis and I originally just put coilovers on and the ride was shit !!!! sooo i bought some KYB AGX nitrogen charged struts and also put new goldline springs and the RIDE is pretty much like stock i lowered it 2inches but since you can adjust the stiffness of the strut it makes it so that you can choose how many bumps you want to feel or not feel any pretty much

there has been an increase of new members these last couple of months. But it's got this forum moving again. I'm starting to not mind it so much anymore. It really got on my nerves a few months ago though. I did a lot of flaming lol.

With $2500, I would Pay for 25 Prostitutes.
But Racing Seats, Springs, and Shocks are cool to. :)

Sell the car and add the $2500 to that and buy a SI!

If I had $2,500..............I would have to fix every little thing on my car that bothers me. Dents, rebulid or just get a new motor, I'm not really sure............too much I'm not satisfied with.

First thing I would do is buy a better base motor to start with, 2500$ will get you a B16 or a B18B swap, then mod your car off that.

Kyle

If you want springs i used to have Intrax springs in my Integra and they handled great and used with new OEM style struts it gave a very smooth ride, but I did scrape alot

Hmm well the last suspention my civic had was Gold line springs, KYB AGX adjustable stuts, Suspention Technices sway bars (front and rear) and that made the car handle awsome and look good. it didnt scrape that bad but occasionaly it did. gold line springs were nice, stiff, but not to stiff. Make sure you atleast add a rear sway bar to your civic even if it is like a stock integra one or something.

i say don't get coilovers...i had ground-control coilovers with eibach lowering springs, and man everytime i went over a little bump it basically felt like my whole back of my car just jumped up..coilovers make your car very bouncy. And having a super dropped car isn't that fun if your gonna be going around to stores surrounded with speed bumps...i always hit the mid bottom of my frame trying to go over a speed bump.

personally, i would buy a chip, diverter valve, turbo upgrade and front mount intercooler, if i had anything left, id go for a brushed aluminum dash kit
