Getting new tattoo! So excited!Steel 02-03-2004, 07:50 PM My first really! Gonna cost me a pretty penny ($1000) But it'll be well worth it. It's a huge design in red and black that's going on my back! Anyone have an pointers for the tattoo virgin? like taking care of it and stuff. I'm not really worried aobut the pain, but i DO wonder how much there will actaully be. It also might be a while yet before it's completley done, but rest assured, AF will be the first to see it when it's done! chicago_guy 02-03-2004, 08:01 PM That's cool Steel. What kind of design is it? But this is in stress release because :dunno: .... originalmike 02-03-2004, 08:21 PM Are you sure you want one that big and expensive for your first time? Steel 02-03-2004, 08:36 PM Stress release?! doh! no wonder i couldnt find it in COT!... if mods could move this... mike: well its not like getting a car where i can start small and work my way up when i get tired of the one i have. ... the fact is, i dont WANT anything else, this is a completley custom design. And i'm not gonna settle for "Second best" when it's going to become a permanent part of my body.. Th design itself is hard to explain.. well.. the centerpiece is the metallica star, which is going in the middle part of my upper back, then there's going to be design that goes out from to to my shoulders, then down from it down my back. Kinda like tribal, but with straight lines and hard angles (inspired by the star) instead of curves. And its going to be in red and black too.. originalmike 02-03-2004, 08:48 PM I get what you're saying and the design sounds great  Steel 02-03-2004, 09:22 PM Yeah and big and painful! The tattoo artist estimates it at about ten hours of work :( But then again, no pain no gain, right? vesper 02-03-2004, 09:37 PM i have 15 tattoos and have worked as a tattoo artist for 5 years now on the side. let me tell ya if your gonna strap your ass down for 10 hours your in for a ride. no really he will probly do sessions. after the out line heals he will finish. i do have some pointers for you. when you put a&d on it do not put a shit load on. thats what gets it infected too much. the pain will only last about 20 to 30 mins into it after that your skin kinda becomes numb. the pain afterwards feels like real bad sun burn. do not DO NOT GO INTO THE SUN WITH IT UNTILL COMPLETLY HEALED. if by any chance it scabs up do not pick or scratch at it. it will leave empty spots in the tat. when it does heal the solid color might have voids in it. this is normal. its called a holiday. he will probly give up free touch up on it afterwards. enjoy =P matada 02-03-2004, 09:51 PM Moved to COT Good luck. It feels like a bee sting (400 times a minute). MagicRat 02-03-2004, 09:56 PM The number one cosmetic surgical procedure in the US these days is not boob jobs or nose jobs, its......tattoo removal. And it hurts 10 times more than having a tattoo done. Whatever floats your boat, Steel, but I personally would never get a tattoo. My rippling muscles are just fine on their own. eversio11 02-03-2004, 09:58 PM I wanna get a small tribal tattoo on my upper back, right down the middle. But this tattoo you speak of.. oh man, thats gonna be a rush. Best of luck and I hope it turns out the way you want it to. dayna240sx 02-03-2004, 10:00 PM My rippling muscles are just fine on their own. :useless:  MagicRat 02-03-2004, 10:03 PM hahahahahahahaha Usually its $50 in the g string first, (ladies night only) :p Steel 02-03-2004, 10:18 PM Thanks for the pointers vesper, i'll definetley keep those in mind! And yeah, it's gonna be done in sessions.. I dont think i could sit still for more than about 3 hours anyway (and it's all i can afford at once time anyway). And i'd also worry aobut the tattoo artists quality deteriorating after that much work too ;) MagicRat: Perhaps your right, but than again, this isn't the "drunken decision" sort of thing going on here ;) I've been wanting one for a couple years now, and I can finally get one. I've put a lot of thought into this, and the tattoo artist and I put a few days into getting the design to just how I want it. (instead of just picking some design off the wall)Plus it's on my back, not like i have to look at it all the time, haha. craigcully 02-03-2004, 11:13 PM It sounds pretty cool, something I'd never do though. Not a big tatoo guy and I think $1000 is a lot of cash to spend on something that to me is merely cosmetic. Probably have to sleep on your stomach for a while too. boingo82 02-04-2004, 02:38 AM The number one cosmetic surgical procedure in the US these days is not boob jobs or nose jobs, its......tattoo removal. . Actually that's inaccurate, the #1 cosmetic surgical procedure is circumcision... And it hurts 10 times more than having a tattoo done. Whatever floats your boat, Steel, but I personally would never get a tattoo. My rippling muscles are just fine on their own. I second that, I am too cheap and too much of a wuss. But congrats to Steel, you sound excited about it and I'm sure it will turn out well.. Neutrino 02-04-2004, 03:31 AM what about this for a tatoo the blueprint schematics of a wankel engine :sunglasse Steel 02-04-2004, 08:50 AM LOL, too bad it's been done already! oldbluecelica 02-04-2004, 04:10 PM good luck man, cant wate to see it! girlie97gt 02-04-2004, 05:21 PM Good luck with you tat.. I have three myself well i can count the one twice cause i had to have it redone 5 years later.. cause it faded light colors fade after awhile.. But the pain is not bad.. My last one is on the back on my neck i have a trible piece.. and that hurt for alittle bit and then i went numb did take 3 hours though.. (it is not that small).. In sessions is a good way to go for something that big... just make sure you go back after your first session... send pics of you stages Steel 02-04-2004, 05:41 PM I sure will girlie! But i do have a question for anyone who can answer it; i've been doing a little research, and i've read a lot that you're not supposed to get the new tattoo wet either.. so.. how am i supposed to take a shower? i mean, i COULD not take a shower for a couple weeks straight, but uhh, i don't think the grrrls would really find that attractive. Anyway.. what gives.. wash everything BUT my back? dayna240sx 02-04-2004, 05:42 PM take a bath girlie97gt 02-04-2004, 06:07 PM You can get them wet you just cannot have a hard stream of water going on them.. and do not rub it with a wash clothe either.. what i have done with mine and i have never have any scabbing or anything is, after like the 2nd day after take a soap wash clother and lightly wash it.. just to get all the old A&D off of it cause it will cause an infection.. Also put that stuff on really lightly.. now keep in mind as well since this is going to be on your back if you wear a shirt (i have on on my shoulder so i am talking from experience) your shirt is going to asorb the A&D.. So keep an eye on it but do not over do it just make sure it is moist... not sticky and gooie.. and i do not suggest taking a bath not good to soak it that will cause you tattoo to scab... also do not go near a swimming pool.. that will bleach it out.. also in the summer if you want to keep your colors nice on your tat when you go into the sun put the highest sum block you can on it.. keeps the colors from fadding.. especially something of that size cost alot to get touch ups.. if you need any other advise or have any other questions feel free to ask... vesper 02-04-2004, 10:26 PM most of the time the shop that does it will usally touch it up for free with in reason. MBTN 02-04-2004, 11:47 PM what about this for a tatoo the blueprint schematics of a wankel engine :sunglasse Hey! Some day I plan on a little rotor outline with a 7 inside. :) TheNotoriousMogg 02-05-2004, 06:04 AM I have 9 tattoos and here are tips I would give. Make sure its a design you want, afterall this isnt the temp tattoo mommie got you at the grocery store vending machine, this is for LIFE Be relaxed, nothing worse then going in there all stressed and nervous No BOOZE DOES NOT HELP...it thins your blood thus making a bigger mess Use vasaline intensive care lotion on your new tats, not bacitracian, neosporin, polysporin...those are for infections, they are giving you a tattoo not an infection Wash it with antibacterial soap and when it starts to peel and flake use a buff puff on you it knock it loose when bathing Those are some tips I give.. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
