Smoking Problem

I have an 88' S10 blazer with the 4.3L,auto,4x4,141,000 miles, i have noticed when i start it after it sits for a little bit a cloud of blue smoke comes out of the exhust, it only does it when i start it it runs great but this is makeing me nervous, what could it be? an what would be the cheapest way to fix it???

Blue smoke on start up is an indication of oil in the compustion chamber.
Usually, leaking valve stem seals are the cause.

Replacing the valve stem seals should fix the problem..even at 141k

No need to change them... This is typical of our trucks... as long as it's not continuous. As the truck sits over night a little oil leaks down then burns up when you start it... Even if you re-do the heads, it will be back with 20k or so... Again, it's typical.

As mentioned above, don't worry about it, unless you are noticing excessive oil usage. The 4.3L is probably the most known for the valve seals leaking.

This won't hurt a thing, most of them started smoking with less than 20K on the odometer. The 4.3 is one of the best engines to come out of GM (next to the 3800). You should see another 50K or more out of your engine, don't touch it!
