Does anyone know which HIDs look most like the BMW X5 or AUDI A4/A6? It has a really purplish color but without looking cheap. I have seen systems offered by K2 and they don't seem real rich in color. I like the system offered by HID4LESS.COM but theirs is $800. Has anyone had experience with aftermarket HIDs? Which would you suggest?

The BMW X5 and AUDI a4/a6 HID kits look the best to me on the roads, because of the many different colors you can see at different angles, but i think it has most to do with the headlamp housing on those and every factory HID equipped car. But to answer your question , no i don't know which Aftermarket HID kit would look "closest." I have seen those kits that claim to have the purple Acura TL type look, but that is nowhere close to the BMW and AUDI look.

Its the housing and not the bulb that determines the color. You can make it purplish but for the real thing do a headlight conversion.:)

I've seen the Philips HID kit on a 2000 Accord and they look pretty tight...almost like a BMW or Lexus

I've had the PIAA Super Plazmas on my CRX for about 6 months and they're still going strong, maybe you got a bad pair of them....

What kind of HID kit is that? Does it put out the same range of light as a BMW or Lexus

First of all, what makes the color in a HID system has to do with the bulb. There are different color temperatures in which bulbs burn. If you knotice, HID systems on ACURA'S are generally a soild color (purpleish) and on BMW'S and Audi's their color flucuates. The flux of color has to do with the projector housing. Acura's use a multi-refector housing which expalins the soildness. You will have a soild color if u buy an aftermarket HID kit, simply because of your housings. Although i am not sure of the color temperature of Acura's HID system, i belive it to be somewhere along the 5000-6000k area. The higher the color temperature, the more purpleish it will become. If want blue 7000k will do it. ALTHOUGH the higher temperatures are "prettier" as the temp increases the less you will see, because of PLANKS LAW-- there will be more ultraviolet light than visible light. I bought a 7000k system (OSRAN BALLAST AND HELLA BULBS) THIS S#IT IS BLUE....MAKES LEXUS LIGHT LOOK YELLOW IN COMPARASON. Although it does not light up the road as much--Partly because of my housings. To make a long story short, HID'S KICK ASS, but i would highly recomend a kit that is in the 5000-6000k range and also that you purchase a projector housing. but if u want to do all show, there is a new 12000k kit that looks bad ass....STRAIGHT UP PURPLE....VERY ILLEGAL THO...
I have more to say, but i am tired of typing. IF you want to know more write me. I hope this helps. P.S. BLUE BULBS(FAKE HID) SUCKS S#IT!!!
