Rotor button does not turn on my 1995 4clmaynard900 02-01-2004, 02:58 PM I have a 1995 camy 4cyl auto with <60,000 miles on it. I posted earlier saying I have no spark. Well found out why. The rotor button does not turn. Any ideas of what needs replaced? brooster 02-01-2004, 04:06 PM Timing belt, and hopefully you didn't bend any valves. Remove the upper timing belt cover and verify that the timing belt is not turning the cam when you try to start the engine. You'll probably have to install timing belt first. Then do a compression test. If you have bent valves, that'll mean pulling the head. maynard900 02-02-2004, 12:53 PM thanks. i'll get started Mike Gerber 02-02-2004, 03:19 PM maynard900, The 2.2 5SFE engine in your 95 Camry is a non-interference type of engine. This means that when the timing belt breaks, the valves do not hit the tops of the pistons. Simply change the timimg belt, or have it changed and you should be OK.
