VW Passat 1991 won't startlouispboutin 02-01-2004, 02:00 PM My passat won't start. When I turn the ignition, I hear one or two crank and then nothing. If I turn the ignition again, I hear one or two crank again and then nothing. I wonder if it is not a kind of "lawnmower syndrome" because the car was running for only a couple minutes before I had to turn it off and it did that when I tried to restart it. It was very cold when it happen. There is electricity (I even tried to boost it) but the motor only cranks one or twice. Anybody coulp help me with this? Thanks. boschmann 02-02-2004, 04:03 PM Will the starter motor continue to spin (disengaged from the flywheel) with the engine not turning over if you hold the key in start position? Or do you get two slow cranks and everything stops. Either way, if your battery & connections are good, it sounds like the starter is bad. Adasm 02-03-2004, 07:47 PM I had the exact same problem...I started it in the morning to idle, then came out and turned it off for osme reason, then when I tried cranking it over, the same thing happened...all I did waas try, wait a minute, try, wait a minute...did this about 8 times and she finally turned over...dunno why it does it, but it hasn't done it since...it was also really cold when I was trying it...gotta be something in the starter... vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
