I own a 1988 Trans Am GTA. I bought it off the original owner who said that he detuned it because it was to powerful. Does anyone know of anyways, especiallyin the engine work or computer of the car of how you could do such a thing? If so could someone tell me how to bring back up to pace? Thank you.

well it could be something like what they do to corvette engines to put into camaro and firebird v8's.... lower performance heads and valves and cam and all that kinda stuff, so just take a look at it and see what you can find if you think that it was. as for the computer im not sure but i don't think you can take out performance through the computer.

I'd go back and ask that idiot what he did, he should be shot for something like that...

haha to powerfull. id do what Blk said and ask him what the hell he did.

i dont see how it could be too powerfull for anyone, you just have to be lighter on teh pedal. hell i know a 70 year old lady that drives a nice lookin 3rd gen, 89 GTA i think it is.

First get a English to Polish dick - tionary so you can translate to this guy, but 9 times out of ten if you want to rob power you do it in the intake, Like the 5.0 Mustang and the silencer or the LT1 F- body's and there narrow intake from the front fender with the resonator. Also you might want to consider the guy told you that as a selling technique to make you think the car was actually more powerful then you thought it was. Also good point about the pedal Jm93 I think thats what any normal human being with common sense would do

the guy probably knew the motor was shot so he told you that so you would buy it thinking that you could "retune" it.

i think tstokka might be right but look at the gas pedal if thats not it go back to that guy and ask what he did cuz theres alot of things he could have done and after u find out give him a good swift kick in the a!# from me
