Headlight Wiring Question

After an accident that destroyed the block that plugs into the headlamp on my S-10,I'm trying to rig up a new lamp and direct wire with the tabs that went into the block.Any tips on getting the right tab on the right headlamp prong? It obviously matters as I hooked it up once, had lights but lost both headlamps after driving a while with the smell of electrical problems in the cab. Thanks!

Painless has a great harness an plug for this. I just got done with a complete harness but I remember seeing just the light set. What year and I can send you the color codes when I get home this evening.

Sorry it took so long...here is what I have with my painless kit..

facing the rear of the plug to you (you looking at the rear of the plug) the right prong is ground, bottom plug is tan wire (low beam), left prong is Light green (high beam).

I hope this helps.
