Engine interchangability

Hi All,

I've got a 93 Camry 2.2L 5-speed. My mechanic just informed me that the car needs a new engine. For various reasons, I would like to replace the engine rather than the whole car.

My question: do any of you know the other Camry engines that can be installed in this car without major mods? Or: is there a web site that might have this info?

I know you can always go from a smaller Camry engine to a bigger engine, although there most always is some suspension modifications that are required to handle the greater weight. I'm not too sure if there are any websites on it, although you may want to search the forums and see if there isn't anything on the swapping of engines, I'm more than sure there is, it's almost every other day someone posts on here asking about an engine swap. But good luck, I hope you find the information you're looking for.
