Eclipse

Can anyone tell me if an eclipse is a good quality car? if i were to just buy one from a dealer

The Eclipse is a great car......BUT they are high maintance cars. The GS & RS are not to bad but you are only looking at 140hp. The GS-T & GSX 210hp. Might give you problems if you dont keep them in *good* working order.
What is the car going to be used for?

I think they are great reliable cars, depending on the previous owner. Read lots of reviews and all good things. But again, depends on the previous owner. They can be very high maintenace is you start to modify it.

Ok so on my 99 gst spyder as long as i stick to the basic mods (intake,IC piping, BOV, full exhaust, turbo timer, boost guage,plugs,wires etc and maybe crank the t25 up a lb or two) I should be safe for alot of miles unless crankwalk occuried. But ive done all the things to try and prevent that one. Im not hard on my car at all and i highly maintain it. How many miles could i expect out of the factory turbo and engine?

you have to figure that the turbo is small and overworked. while that isn't a big problem, you will want to upgrade it once you get the bug, so that will rule out the turbo. with the gauge you will notice boost drop off above 5500 rpm. and the engine has very strong stock internals, good to 450hp. very reliable. so if you keep it well maintained and don't drive like me it will last you for a long time. look up the thread titled "just for BoostedSpyder" and you will see that a lot of the cars in here have a lot of miles. i love my spyder.
