Classic Sentra SE-R vs Mini Cooper S

I have no idea how I did not post this up this weekend, as I have been looking forward to this race with this car for a while now. Maybe it's because it wasn't as good as I expected...

So, I was at this light Saturday night with a railroad track in front of it, and the actual intersection-line is about a car-length ahead of the tracks.

This Mini-S (dual exhaust, big "S" after the "Cooper" on it's hatch-lid), was stopped behind the tracks, where it would've been perfectly safe and legal in front of the tracks.

Anyhow, I was just admiring the car as I was next to it in the turning-lane (there was car was ahead of the tracks in front of me), when the lights flash that indicated that a train would be passing-by in about 2-3 minutes.

Thinking quickly, I cross the tracks in front, and got in the lane/intersection-line where the Cooper should've/could've been. It was the same distance home going straight or turning.

Thing is, if the train's behind you, the flashing red-lights ahead become a stop-sign symbol, and you can go, as long as cross-traffic is clear...no waiting for the whole train.

The train didn't come after all, and the light turned green shortly after that.

I guess Cooper-boy didn't like what I did, so in an effort to prove his car's superiority, he steps on it behind me (saw his headlights jump), and saw him change lanes to pass me. I somewhat kinda expected it, that's why I was watching his headlights, since when I was admiring the car, I saw the driver was younger, and looked kinda smug with his buddy next to him.

As he gets to my right-rear quarter-panel, I dropped it to second, going about 45 or so, which I figured was fair enough, considering he had the momentum.

It was perfect, since when he got exactly even with me is when I hit my HP-peak at 6800.

After a quick-shift to third at 7500rpms, I find myself ahead a fender, and when I hit the sweet-spot, I started to pull...and pull.

By the end of third, I was ahead by maybe 5 cars or so.

We tried it again about 3 or so more times, with the results just about similar, except, since we were even this time, I was ahead by 6 or so cars instead. We even did one where I waved him ahead to the single open lane at a light, and I started from behind (the faster car was already established), and I went around, and had him by three cars.

Now, before anybody flames, I know that the car is supposed to be faster than that. If anything, it should be about as fast as a 1999-2000 Si, which my car only pulls by about 3 cars or so.

Thing is, the Cooper still had paper plates, so the driver was disadvantaged by probably a motor that hasn't been broken-in (but broken soon, lol), and he was more than likely still getting used to the car. Hey, he raced right?

Anyhow, I hope to find a Cooper S with a better driver, though I probably had the owner of this one thinking twice about his purchase, lol.

Feh, the REAL Italian Job starred Benny Hill and Michael Caine and had such classic lines as....

"So, will we have to wear stockings over our 'eads?"
"Oh no. At least, you won't."
"Oh... I'd like that."

Yeah, 1969 original. That's the movie to see.

Anyways, good kill carrrnutt. Keep the SE-R legend alive.

Hey, the mini is not a good STOCK street racer. its very low on power. But they handle very well. that standered cooper can be boosted to about 200hp with a turbo for about 4grand.

doesn't a mini run like a 15.1 1/4 mile or so ? as far as i remember that's what all the major car magazines did it in. and the 99-00 Civic Si did like a 15.7. So with equal drivers and a broken in car it should be a very close race.

It's about having fun, man.

You might wanna ease-up on the overconfidence there before it becomes shit-talking. http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/images/smilies/screwy.gif

I'm just letting you know.

Win or lose, I don't mind...that's why I don't race for money. If you keep up with this "prove myself" track you're on, you're gonna pop a vein if you lose again (not saying that its going to be from me or anything http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/images/smilies/uhoh.gif).

BTW, I have been crusing the AZ Street-Racing forums...

...two questions:

ONE: Is that white-power, NAZI faggot that was defending you in there going with you if we ever do meet up again? He is the only other Cavalier-owner in there, it seems. If so, don't bother ever asking me to meet-up again. I really don't feel like dealing with shits like that.

TWO: I saw your reference to your "blazing intake", when you beat that base Neon you talked about in there. Wow.

Let us settle this once and for all, as you're fanb01 fanaticism towards your Cavalier is getting VERY annoying.

I want it to be a race in a VERY clear and long area, as I want it to be a race to your governor, which is 108. NO excuses, NO whining, and if you lose, you WILL shut-up about your fabulous Cavalier that leaves all Neons in the dust.

THIS TIME, make sure you take out the dog-food from the trunk, and make sure you shift right, k?

LASTLY, no excuses about your car's break-in period. Since you beat SRT-4s by 6 car-lengths now, we'll just assume that your car's broken-in, k?

This link will probably answer your questions:
http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=1463384#post1463384

Also, 1994-and-up SR20DEs show a proven 6-8wHP gain with 1991 to 1993 cams, and yet are rated as having 140HP stock.

So it's either the 1991 to 1993 SR20DEs are underrated, or 1994-and-up SR20DEs are overrated. I tend to think it's the former.

EDIT: BTW, how did your race with the Sentra go? You are referring to the older Sentras, right?

Nice kill man. I just don't understand why some of these guys with new cars are so stupid. For one his engine isn't broken in and not running at full potential, and second his engine is not broken in and he is running it hard. He is going to destroy the damn engine.

srry to bust your bubble. It has been proven that the Ecotec engine like to be ran like that after 500 miles. It yeilds more power after the breakin period, and makes it it more effeciant too.

Duh, that is the way EVERY engine is the world is, not just Opel’s Ecotec. That is what I was saying. Any engine run hard before finishing the break in period will not be running at its full potential. However; if you run an engine hard before it is broken in, which is more than 500 miles, you will permanently damage your engine and it will have to be rebuilt.

What the hell does your precious Ecotec's break-in have to do with this thread?

Are you giving a remark about why your car will be the author of my "demise"?

Think about what you just said.

Your buddy runs mid-15's with his car that has 35 more HP AND TQ over yours, and is around the same weight.

Yet you claim LOW 15's with your car?

What? Does the Ecotec motor develop 40 or so HP after the break-in? Is that what you were trying to say?

Have you raced your buddy lately? You do know that everytime I have ran a stock SpecV, we were neck-and-neck, right?

They're fully capable of 15-flat, stock.

Why, oh WHY do you have to cling to the legend of the Ecotec, like a toddler in need of a security blanket?

Do you REALLY have to justify what you have? Can't you just enjoy it for what it is, instead of over-hyping and over-boasting?

If you do a search using "POS" as the keyword, along with my username in this site, 9 times out of 10, it is me talking about MY car. You know...the same car that whupped yours?

What? Not usual or something? I dont have the standard 2.73 gearing that a mustang has, mine was a automatic and came with a 3.27 gear i believe, but i changed it to a 5-speed. My car is very good top end, ran with a 94' Z28 over 100. :iceslolan (Very fun moment). So, here's how the race happend. He got a early start, i took off kinda late and spun alot. Then into the race i missed third, got third then caught up, hit fourth and passed him.

I'd like to see FatNinja19 run his LX 5.0 with a Posi turning 3.73's against 90Stangjc with his setup...

I've ridden in FN's Mustang and for being a stock 5.0 with only exhaust and gears. It moves right along for its age. Would be a good match up I think.
