Replace Cassette with CDadidas21012 01-25-2004, 09:22 PM Hi, I have a 96 Camry, not sure what trim, but I don't believe that affects my question much. I'm new to sound systems, but the one on my car is terrible, and it is a cassette player. I was wondering, if possible at all, how much it would cost to replace the cassette player with a CD player. Thank you for your time. ai6908 01-26-2004, 01:44 PM Hi, I have a 96 Camry, not sure what trim, but I don't believe that affects my question much. I'm new to sound systems, but the one on my car is terrible, and it is a cassette player. I was wondering, if possible at all, how much it would cost to replace the cassette player with a CD player. Thank you for your time. Well the best deal would be to buy a new cd player. There are lot of price ranges, i got mine for about 140, and its a JVC 590. Check it out in the internet or take ur car to best buy or circuit city, then u can figure out what u want. yotatechie04 01-27-2004, 11:30 PM I agree, Circuit City is probably your best shot, they'll install it for you and everything, which just eliminates the need to worry yourself to death over it. kuroi_tuki 01-28-2004, 01:14 AM changin the decks aint that hard at all..........if u can get a good deal off the internet, just buy it, n go to one of those automotive audio n ask for the wiring hardness for ur camry.... here is wat u do: 1) remove the cig lighter, then use a flat-head screw-driver to pull the panel forward... 2) then u will c 4 screws that are securing the radio n the littel box, unscrew it, take the old deck out, n unplug all the wires....... 3) use a soldering iron to solder the plug wires that came with the new deck with the wire hardness....... the package of the wire hardness have details on which wire goes to where......... 4) after u solder the wires, all u have to do is plug it in, n redo steps backward from 1 to 2....... **NOTE: make sure u test the new deck b4 putting all the stuff back 2gether deadcomputer 08-01-2004, 01:58 PM I agree, Circuit City is probably your best shot, they'll install it for you and everything, which just eliminates the need to worry yourself to death over it. I'm replacing the cassette player with my new cd player on 97 camry LE. Just don't know which wire from the camry connecting to wire harness of the new cd player. They have diffrerent color codes. Do you know the definition of the the camry color coding? Thanks, yotatechie04 08-01-2004, 02:47 PM No, I do not know the color codes for the wiring harnesses. Throughout 1997-1999 they had different colors for each thing. I do know that on our Camry, which is a 99, Yellow and white go to the speakers. Other than that you may want to purchase an installation kit or instructions from crutchfield.com. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
