That car is a great baseto start with
B16 B18 CR-Vtec or go big with a H22
Just my 2 cents

It depends on what you want to do with your car, as far as boost vs. NA is concerned. With $3000, I'd get a B16 SiR II for around $2300 and spend the rest on a good exhaust system. If you want to go turbo, get a D16Z6 for around $400 and piece together a turbo kit with the rest of the money. You'd be making 30-40 more hp with the turbo setup, but you'd have a less reliable engine with much less potential for power if you wanted to upgrade in the future.

isnt the cr-vetc supposed to be a better fit then the h-22. and the h22 weaighs a couple hundred pounds more dosent it??

the h22 is like 85 pounds more. its not worth swapping it into a civic you probably need to cut you front suspention up a little also to get it in there. go with gsr or b16 my if you want turbo go with LS. they are my favorites and will handle 10-12 psi stock.

I would personally recommend the gsr, thats what I have one my hatch, but its gonna cost a little more than 3grand unless you have connections or you can get a gsr for cheap, ie: know someone who wrecked their gsr and want to sell you the engine. But if you go to an online store the engine swap itself is a little over 3g's. So thats why I said the b16. LS's are cheap and you'll get a nice hp increase and then in few years or whatever you can save up for the turbo so I'll agree with smokn91hb and recommend that too.

I went to a local shop and a b16 is gonna cost like $3500 to have installed............everything from the radiatior to exhaust manifold.
does this sound about right and if not about how much should this swap cost??

I'd say that's about right-maybe a little much, but about right. A complete swap usually costs around $2400 for a newer B16a and installation is usually about $1000. Just make sure it's a reputable shop that has experience with that kind of swap; you're dropping a lot of cash to get it done right.

Sorry, this has nothing to do with the topic at hand, but wtf did he just say?

Actually, I kind of do have something to say. Go with a b16. 3,500 does sound sort of high. Also, my h22a was only 1,600.00, exceptionally clean and when I opened it up, didn't even look like it had ever been in vtec, the vtec cam lobes weren't even polished.

Sounds like a good swap. From what website did you order it?

Did you use some sort of bhp-whp calculator to get those numbers, or are they just an estimate?

That's probably a good average of what most people dyno with a stock b16a.

No estimate. I have dyno charts from most b series motors.

Does anyone have a link to any sort of bhp-whp calculator?
