I was given 2 keys, one with the remote and another black one with no buttons. The car starts with both the keys but the remote buttons dont work. I have changed the battery the red light on the remote blinks but nothing happens, which made me think it needs reprogramming. Searching on the forum I came across many different programming techniques such as Driver door open other locked insert key lock/unlok 5 times close driver door than open again lock/unlock 5 times insert key, turn to on and remove the lock should cycle up till here no problems the doors do lock and unlock once but after that when I press the button on the key nothing happens. Tried it about 10 times so far with different combinations, pressing lock and unlock together, pressing lock, holding down lock and pressing unlock 5 times and so on. and now I need help of all you experts. Any help would be appreciated. nisheikh@gmail.com altos 06-03-2009, 02:55 PM Does anyone have a pdf file (or?) they can email me for a 2004 Sequoia, transponder key programming. I have tried all the variations noted in this thread. The "security light", I am assuming, is the "key" light in the dash. I try programming and it just blinks on... and on.... and on... The seller claims profusely that the key is the correct key, however, it can ONLY be programmed at a dealer (according to him). Before abandoning this key, does anyone have a pdf file they can email to; kurtayers@earthlink.net Thank you navsarin 06-04-2009, 11:15 AM I'm also new to AF... I live in the Toronto region. There is a guy who can 'flash' your ECU for new master keys if required. He has every type of key (toyota, nissan, honda, acura etc) and key fobs as well for unlock/lock/trunk etc depending on the model of car. I had only a grey 'valet' key and did not want to pay Toyota $1200 for a new ECU and $500 for new keys/fobs. Hope this helps for those living the GTA area...his rates are good. I was charged $200 for 2 new master keys, full reprogrammed ECU and 1 keyless fob. Programming Transponder/Master car keys (Toyota-Mazda-Nissan-Infiniti-VW-GM-Honda -Acura-Ford-Mitsubishi ,Dodge-Chrysler,Jeep and more. call me at 647-272-6522 altos 06-04-2009, 02:18 PM My final answer to my 2004 Sequoia key reprogramming was not ebay, not finding the magic internal car process (which does NOT exist for a 2004), rather, find a decent locksmith. After a LOT of flailing I said screw it and called 4 dealers; $150-280 for EACH key. I called a couple locksmiths who were a bit better. I finally found one who came to my home and programmed TWO (2) new keys for $130. I would have preferred to have found the magic process for having the vehicle program the keys but I could only stand the pain for so long. Apparently 2001-2002's have a procedure that works but not 2004. Oh well, it's a done deal for me. Enjoy, mpilot4god 08-15-2009, 10:47 AM I am new to these forums and one of the myriads of people who regularly search forums for answers but without contributing questions or solutions. However, I was so annoyed at the tactics of Toyota in replacement keys that when I found what worked for my 2001 Sienna, I couldn't help but share it. The instructions were posted earlier: Programming spare keys: for 1998 to 2002 1.. Copy the cuts of the original working key onto the appropriate transponder blank. 2.. Enter the car and close all of the doors. 3.. Simultaneously depress and release both the brake and accelerator pedals. 4.. Within five seconds, insert a working pre-programmed key into the ignition cylinder, and turn to the "on" position. 5.. Within fifteen seconds of turning the ignition, depress and release the accelerator pedal five times for a primary key. (Depress and release four times for a valet key.) 6.. Within twenty seconds, depress and release the brake pedal six times for a primary key. (Depress and release only times for a valet key.) 7.. Turn the ignition to the "off" position and immediately remove the key. 8.. Within ten seconds of removing the key, insert the new key and turn it to the "on" position. 9.. Within ten seconds, depress and release the accelerator pedal once. The security light will then flash for 60 seconds and then turn off. When the security light stops flashing the programming should be complete. 10.. Start the vehicle to verify that programming was successful. This worked for me on the second try. Steps 5&6 may be causing problems for others because I think that both steps need to be accomplished in 20 seconds rather than 15 or 20 seconds for each step. Keep trying - it worked for me. mpilot4god 08-15-2009, 10:50 AM I bought two keys on ebay for $12 each and had them cut for $3 each. The dealer wanted $47 just to program up to three keys. I queried him on how to do it and though he told me they needed a scan tool, he later admited that the tool merely tells them the "pedal-pushing, key in and out" techniques. $47 for them to spend 5 minutes doing something that requires no technical ability. Sunclipse 01-07-2010, 09:22 AM I recently had to have a whole new key made for my 09 Toyota Camry after dropping it in the snow and unsucessfully looking for it for hours! I have tried many variations of the "pedal dance" and the opening and closing of the doors. I have a master key that works (black head) but cant seem to find a method to program the new key. I was able to successfully program the new key to unlock and lock the doors so it somewhat works. However I just can't program it to start the car. Toyota have it. thegaus 12-31-2010, 06:36 PM PLEASE HELP!! I have a 99 land cruiser and lost my only chipped key. My car is sitting at a toyota dealership as i type. I have lost my key before and took it to a dealership where i had a friend in parts. He cut me a vallet key to open my doors then cut me a chipped key and programmed it. total time was about an hour. So now, this current dealership is telling me i need a new ecm in order for me to get my car started? I asked them why didn't i need a new ecm last time i lost my key and they said i dont know? I have a feeling they are trying to sell me something i dont need. So my question is do i really need a new ecm in order to get my car started or can they just program a chipped key like they did the first time and send me on my way? thanks in advance! if anybody can help please email me: gausman@hotmail.com miguelangelr 01-03-2011, 03:04 PM Mike, please help. I have a 2005 Sequoia Limited. I purchased the ebay blank transponder key for around $15. I followed the instructions that have been listed several times (shown below) but with out success. I did notice that my master key has a dot punched on top of the key shaft while the key blank does not have it. A lock smith told me that the dot signifies that the key has the transponder. I am not sure if that is true. I have also seen instructions that reflect the same procedure except that step #6 says to turn the key, but neither work. Would it be possible to send me .pdf with instructions for my vehicle. my email is miguelangelr@hotmail.com Thank you. Again below is the procedure that I found in this thread. Should I try it again. I am also concerned about trying it too many times (more than 4 times) before my CPU locks this feature off). FOR 2002+ 1.Make sure all doors and windows are closed. 2.Insert master key into the ignition cylinder. 3.Cycle the ignition cylinder from ON to OFF 5 times. 4.Open and close the driver side door 6 times. 5.Remove the master key and insert the new duplicate key. 6.DO NOT TURN THE IGNITION CYLINDER ON 7.The new key will be registered after 60 seconds. The THEFT light on the dashboard will go out, indicating that programming has been completed. "some 2002 will work using the 1998+ programming." miguelangelr 01-03-2011, 03:15 PM I have a 05 Sequoia Limited. My wife misplaces the keys often. Is it possible to program more than 1 key for the truck? I have a cut key that will not start the truck. I heard that Toyota makes it much harder in 05. Can anyone send me the sequence for the keys and the remotes for future. Is it as hard as the dealer makes it out to be? Miguelangelr@hotmail.com (Miguelangelr@hotmail.com). Thanks Miguel ladude626 01-21-2011, 09:42 PM I just bought a used 2006 Solara. I have the black master transponder key and just bought a blank transponder key of Ebay. I went into the dealer and after being told I needed to schedule an appointment to program an additional key (on another day) and it would take 1.5 hours, I took the part numbers for the keys and left. Since finding this thread, I have ordered an additional master key and had it cut. I have tried both the 1998-2002 and 2002+ programming methods mentioned above and neither seem to work after multiple attempts. The theft light on the LCD panel above the climate control just keeps blinking. Suggestions? chriszeh 09-30-2011, 10:37 AM I am looking for the instructions for a 2007 Camry.
