Which car would you pick? From a mechanical standpoint which do you think has the edge, considering parts avialable? of course the new z wins hands down in terms of creature comforts and technology incorporated into it’s design. Even with the duel Greddys on there the new z only gets into the 300S HP. With its small engine bay being a huge limiting factor in performance modifications will it ever get better and what is holding it back? I think Nissan needs to change it up drastically in 2005 but at least there taking a step in the right direction. With some layout and mechanical changes this could be an enthusiasts dream car.

First off...the new Z does not have dual GReddy's...and the GReddy turbo kit for the Z gives more than just a 13hp gain...I think it's like 350 or so at the wheels...and I dont think they will drastically change anything on it for '05...

the 350Z's engine bay is roomier then a Vr-4's ( 3000GT ). plus a stock 350Z puts down around 230 hp at the wheels. the greddy kit puts down over 350whp. thats a 120hp gain over stock at the wheels. which translates to well over 400 crank hp. also to get such a big gain. the kit is only running 6psi of boost. so a 120 whp gain at only 6psi is amazing.

Yes I know he meant the new Z...the old Z had the VG30DETT or VG30DE...not the VQ35DE

the 300zx also has very little room under the hood. but really it just depends on what you want. i actually was going to get a 300zx tt instead of the vr4 mainly cause i couldn't find a vr4 in price. yeah the z would be my second choice if i had to choose another car but the vr4 imo looks nicer and is more advanced. as far as parts and upgrading, i'd probly flip a coin.

I'd still take the VR4 version of the 3000 over the other cars. Once the 350 is turbo charged from the factory, it'll be the top choice.

i am buying a 300zx in 1-2 months so of course i would say i like the 300zx the best. even if i had the money to buy a 350z, i would still go after a 300zx. about the 3000gt, personally, i dont like mitsubishi's, so i wont even consider that.

3000gt is your best option, fast, great looks and you will have lots of fun with it.

350Z, leave it bone stock at least that way when something breaks, the company fixes it. And that may work to my advantage, since Nissans electrical systems in the late 80's/early 90's were rather dubious (A31 Cefiro and P10 Primera anyone?) and I still don't trust them, yet, they seem to be better in the noughties though. Add to that the significant teething problems that Z's have been having and it'd be just as well I have the warranty.

Of course I'd flag the 300ZX right away, if it hadn't been rebuilt thoroughly- they're getting that long in the tooth, that they need one.......It'd have been trashed as well, oyu can put a ring around it.

And the 3000GT is too heavy for serious consideration.

Ok, I thought we are comparing stock for stock, if so, the 350Z in all it's glory falls short. I'd say the other two are pretty even, but I know that TT is the muscle of Japan so w/o I just don't think you can contend.

actually the 350z and the 300zxtt are pretty much even in 1320 300zxtt known to run the norm of 13.9 while the 350z is 14.0, first gen vr4s are known for 13.9 as well, but 2nd gen vr4's are in the 13.5 area so the 2nd gens are faster than both.
but this threae is 2 months old and should be closed

But is the 350Z turbo ready? I would think not because I'd assume it has high compression for it's 287 horses n/a out of a 6. The 300ZX is already set-up to be true Jap muscle though.
