T-bird (v8) vs. Monte Carlo (v6)

What is the comparison between a stock '95 Ford Thunderbird (4.6L V8) and a stock '01 Monte Carlo SS with the V6?
You would think the V8 would run all over the V6...but according to a friend of mine, his Monte Carlo will outrun my T-bird in the quarter-mile. Guess we'll just have to see...getting a race started soon :)
