88 Accord battery light on!heathergee 01-13-2004, 11:56 PM I recently had some work done on my 88 Accord...timing belt replaced, crank shaft/cam shaft seals replaced, new water pump and oil pump. After all this my starter froze, so i put a new one in, but then my battery was dead so I charged it, it would never hold a charge, I tried it for 2/3 days. it was constantly going down (used a volt meter to check it). Within 2 hrs it would be dead. I returned the battery and got a new one but the problem was still there, the battery was still drained. Then my rear defroster fuse blew, so i replaced it. Then another fuse blew (under the hood), so I replaced it (I don't know what this fuse controled because I cannot find a list of these fuses under the hood...this is very frustrating!!!). All the other fuses are good. The battery charge was still being mysterously drained, so I changed the starter again, thinking it was a bad one...nope, it still drains with the 2nd new starter. The alternator is also only 3 mts old and works fine when the car is running and the battery is disconnected. (auto zone also checked it and said it was good). WHAT IS DRAINING MY BATTERY????? i have to disconnect the battery every time I stop in order to have it run again. PLEASE HELP!!! Thanks Heather accordztech 01-16-2004, 12:36 PM alternator.....thats what it is...get it checked, also check the belt on teh alternator, good luck. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
