Rear Brake Drum S-10 4X4schmark 01-13-2004, 12:35 PM I Busted a stud off on the rear wheel of my 4x4 s10. I can not get the brake drum off to replace the broken stud. Is there a trick to this procedure? Thanks for any help. TopDogg 01-13-2004, 03:21 PM I would make sure you loosen the adjuster all the way. Shoes are probably holding it on. If it wiggles a bit then you know its not stuck to the center hub part. I would then get a BFH. :naughty: schmark 01-13-2004, 09:12 PM I backed the adjuster off as much as it would go. the drum spins freely but seems to be frozen th the part that holds the studs. I sprayed the stud holes with wd40. Anymore suggestions? Fox_Rocks 01-14-2004, 11:33 AM as the man said....a BFH, or take a torch to it and cut out just the stud, not sure how good you are with a torch but that would do it. lowmileage 01-14-2004, 05:08 PM Did you try tapping the drum out from the back gently all around to sort of "coax" it? as the man said....a BFH, or take a torch to it and cut out just the stud, not sure how good you are with a torch but that would do it. Fox_Rocks 01-15-2004, 11:41 AM as long as you hit them right on the drum you can really hit them hard without worrying about it, i've used a 5lb sledge before, drums are pretty strong. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
