1991 Accord EX Auto VSS 17 Problemharveyhonda 01-13-2004, 09:57 AM For several months, the S light has been coming on after I get going. It flashes and sometimes the engine light comes on as well. This does not happen all the time. I recently went on a 250 mile trip and the S light nor the engine light came on at all. I can be going down the road and the S light comes on and the speedometer drops to 0. Every time this happens, the S light begins to flash. In a few more miles on the same trip without having shut the engine off, the speedometer comes back but the S light keeps flashing. Why does this problem occur intermittently? Could there be a loose wire somewhere from the VSS 17 on top of the tranny? Could it be a ground wire that is not making a good connection to the VSS? Lost in VSS Land. VSS located on top of transmission, there are two power steering hoses, electrical wiring coming to it. I have had the wires off and the VSS out before. Connected everything back at the VSS on top of the tranny and the problem is still there. I think it could be on the other end. Where do the wires go after leaving the VSS? Might they go to a cruise control unit?
