Turbocharging an Accord 98 F23A1 enginecoocoo32 01-12-2004, 05:57 PM I want to put a turbo on my 98 Accord, 60K Miles, stock internals, F23A1 (engine code) with about 8 psi boost from turbokinetics turbo. I do not want to swap engine. Anybody's done it? Are you satisfy with results? Is the stock engine strong enough to support 100 WHP? coocoo32 01-15-2004, 02:01 PM I can only guess that alot of people talk about tubos but not many people have them to really talk about it. jajimo 01-15-2004, 04:36 PM The reason most people don't turbo their F22 or F23 is because running 8psi on stock internals isn't very good for your engine. It will probably cost more to have your engine rebuilt to withstand the 8psi, buy the turbo and all its components than it would to buy an H22. Plus, you still run a higher risk of blowing your engine with the turbo. whyte Gsr b0i 01-16-2004, 11:04 PM if you buy forged rods, pistons, and a proformance head gasket.. you will be alright with the 8 psi.. but f22 isnt made for high rpms.. that means 5500+ rpms.. soo i wouldnt count on it to last forever.. you end up replcing whatever you didnt replace with a stronger AfterMarket part.. i say no go but its possible _______________________________ I can only guess that alot of people talk about tubos but not many people have them to really talk about it. -coocoo32 _______________________________ THat IS SOOO true..!!! coocoo32 01-17-2004, 10:42 PM Thanks for the replys. However I could not find, while searching through the forums that people are blowing their F23 engine boosted to about 8 psi. Some people say it is the engine, others say the transmission is weak. So who's right? But don't say both are weak! whyte Gsr b0i 01-17-2004, 11:19 PM hahas im tellin you its the engine.. why not start with something that is already fast.. then if you decide to go w/turbo... then your will be that much faster.. one of the fastest civics in the world was powered buy a good ole accord motor... doo what you want.. the f23 prolli gon' cost ya more after awhile.. i'd up grade to a prelude tranny.. coocoo32 01-18-2004, 02:26 PM whyte Gsr b0i, do you know someone who owns a turbocharged Accord 98-02? How can you tell that the engine is really weak if you can not prove it? jajimo 01-18-2004, 07:24 PM The engine isn't built to handle high PSI and high RPMs, but since it isn't our money, by all means, go for it. coocoo32 01-18-2004, 10:31 PM OK, thanks, I will let you know how it really works cause I am buying one. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
