I am doing a ground up resto on my 67 camaro. I would like to install GM`s crate Ram Jet 502. I would like to do this without cutting any holes in my stock cowl induction hood. I am not a big fan of the raised cowl hood and would like to use the one I have. I know the ram jet from intake to the top is 11 inches tall. My car is in a thousand pieces at the paint shop now or I would just do the measuring my self. I would like to order the engine soon since I have the $$ at the time. Anyone see this install in a first gen Camaro? Or know if this beast will fit under the hood without mods? Thanks for any help in advance! :)

sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but methinks it aint gonna fit. its just too high. unless you can get some custom mounts that drop the engine a few inches. and then custom fab the drivetrain to accomodate the relocated engine. but i think your gonna have to live with the hole in the hood or a big scoop if you wanna run that engine. surry :(

I dissagree. I think it will fit. I don't think that the intake on the Ram Jet is any higher than a highrise intake with a carb and air cleaner. I think it's built to fit under the hood. I think that 11" is measured from the deck and not the heads or valve covers. Should fit like a glove. But hey, I've been wrong before.

Here is the infro from http://www.gmgoodwrench.com/gmgoodwrenchjsp/perfparts/partlist.jsp?section=ce&cat=9274

The Ram Jet manifold stands eleven inches tall as measured from the front and rear "china wall" on the cylinder block. That''s just half an inch taller than a typical single plane high rise manifold, Holley carb and air cleaner combo

Ya, a Blower would be nice. But I like the sleeper look with big ponies. Although the sound a blower makes puts a smile on everyones face!

well, i stand corrected by 92RS, but i would be wary about it. id wait on ordering til you measure. set the money aside and dont spend it. or give it to a trusted friend to hold onto till you measure if you think youll spend it.
