caronlina blue 95 supracrazyheck 01-08-2004, 11:25 PM hey this is my carolina blue supra, the only customizing i did was, a light blue tint on the windows, thanks to my girlfriend who works at eyemart, mesh grille, wheels from revell integra, wing from revell civic si, and i believe thats it, not a bad kit, but i dont really like the way the body sits so high, let me know what u think?http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/131681Dsc03910-med.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/131681Dsc03906-med.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/131681Dsc03905-med.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/131681Dsc03903-med.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/131681supra6-med.jpg http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=/503/131681supra4-med.jpg jswillmon 01-08-2004, 11:31 PM Like the color......Baby blue is Pimp. :pimp: Layla's Keeper 01-08-2004, 11:57 PM It needs a ton more detailing work, not to mention the track is far too narrow, the ride height looks absolutely gauche, and the "grille mesh" looks like someone put a piece of chain link fence in the car's grille. I know the AMT Supra has its limitations, but it's still possible to produce an attractive and detailed model from the kit. This is far from being either attractive or detailed. crazyheck 01-09-2004, 12:23 AM yea i noted the way the body sits i dont like it either, and what would u recommend to widen the wheel base? and what else would u recommend putting more detail into? Layla's Keeper 01-09-2004, 12:43 AM The wheelbase isn't a problem, it's the track (ie. how far apart in width the tires are). Track can be very easily changed with spacers fitted to the wheelbacks, which can be scratchbuilt from sheet styrene. The ride height can be changed by redrilling the suspension mount points and filling down mounting pins. It takes some trial and error before you get the right stance, but it can be done. As far as detailing is concerned, a black wash over the wheels, followed by spraying on some dullcoat and picking out the rim bolts and lugnuts with a good metallic paint (like Model Master metalizer non-buffing aluminum) would help get rid of the toylike look the wheels have. Also, get some semi-gloss black and go to town painting the the windshield and window surrounds. Chrome foil the side marker lights, then paint over the chrome foil with some clear orange. Do the same, except with clear red, for the CHMSL (center high mounted stop light). Put some chrome foil inside of the mirror housings so that you actually have some side view mirrors. And finally, add the panel lines with some dark grey. Fine Tip Gundam paint markers work best for this, I've found. That's some basic detailing tips I can suggest. DSM-Mark 01-09-2004, 12:55 AM Great work! I like how bold you were, going for a completely different paint on it, and your interior looks good. Layla gave you a bunch of tips on detailing... consider them constructive criticism! They're all great tips! crazyheck 01-09-2004, 10:18 AM hey thanks a bunch guys and layla i'll try some re-detailing and let u see what i come up with crazyheck 01-09-2004, 10:23 AM i don't understand what u mean about a black wash on the wheels Zcaithaca 01-09-2004, 11:09 AM thats pretty cool...not really feeling the mesh grilles or the absence of a rear licence plate...although i do like the wing and choice of rims chrismcgee 01-09-2004, 11:26 AM a black wash is a thiined black paint, normal a 2 part thinner to 1 part paint (normaly black i think) and what you do is lightly paint it over the wheels and the dark paint will settle into the parts of the wheel where you would normaly have shaddow. it is a bit like panel lines. where as because model wheels are so shallow they dont always get shaddows. its worth a try. good luck vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
