Help!

I am going to change my valve cover gasket, and would like any suggestions or tips. I bought the gasket, and it comes with some large O-rings. What are these O-rings for? I also read on some other post that the "Grommets" should be changed?? Are these the bolts holding the cover down? Is it Ok to tighten these down without a torque wrench?

Thanks in advance!

The large o-rings fit in the valve cover(bottom side) they are a seal for each spark plug tube. Grommets are under each crown nut holding the valve cover down, those really only need to replaced if cracked or missing. Most likely you will need to pry the cover off once its unbolted, be careful not to damage the cylinder head. Don't forget to disconnect/reconnect the grounding wire. Make sure the head(gasket mating surface, not rocker arms, cam, etc.) is clean before the v/cover goes back on, it's also a good idea to clean the inside of valve cover - DO NOT try & clean the cylinder head, all that junk could clog your oil pump. A dab of silicone/Hondabond on the new v/cover gasket where the recessed area for the cam(4 spots) is. It is ok to tighten without a torque wrench, just don't over-tighten. The crown nuts only need 7lb ft, which isn't much at all. Tighten in an "X" pattern.

While your in there, you might want to do a valve adjustment if you have a feeler guage.

I think that about all . . .
