Defeating Bunta and the hairpins... (Ver. 1 arcade)Keitaro 01-06-2004, 07:59 PM I have been trying almost everyday for weeks now and I still can't beat this guy, he's worse than Takumi with the upgraded AE86 and has a faster car (even the quick shift to 4th gear at the start only gets me a little bit ahead). I have been trying to go through the tight hairpins; both on Mt. Akina and Happogahara, but I still don't see how anybody could make it through "The five dealy hairpins" on Akina and the 2 or 3 sets of tight hairpins on Happogahara without crashing or going slower than 100Kph, giving a good chance of somebody passing. Any advice on this? JeffForSale! 01-06-2004, 08:18 PM Er..what are your shift points? And are you in the Levin or Trueno? I'm assuming you drive the Trueno, unless you're some god who can beat Takumi on Happgahara in a Levin. Its 4 hairpins btw 2nd as soon as the race begins 3rd at 6000 RPM 4th at 7000 RPM 5th at 135-140kmh Those shift points should work out, I know it seems to be shifting early but thats just how the game is run :p Try watching this vid http://azncoke.cliqmedia.net/akinadownhill.wmv For the AE86, however, you have to slow down on that S turn. Only the FD can do that ;) Edit: Ok, wtf? You take the hairpins on Akina under 100kmph? There's your problem right there. The hairpins should never be taken under 120 if you want to run close to 3 minutes, you got to learn how to use the gutters, and the gutters should never be used if you're doing under 115 kmph. I usually do the "take-off" trick to the 4th gear at the start of the race and usually stay there on Happo. I usually shift at the red lines and never try to go over them and the only time I shift down is if I'm going into a tight turn. I drive the fully-tuned Option A Trueno (currently over 120,000 pts), the same that Takumi drives, and I meant the tight-as-hell hairpins on Happogahara, I keep on running into the walls on the 5 very sharp hairpins. I take the Akina turns at over 120kmph (sometimes 140+ kmph) and practice using the gutters all the time. I'm skilled enough to take a untuned DC2 and take it through every single person and course without losing once. Keitaro 01-07-2004, 03:05 PM Okay, after watching the video a few dozen times, went back to the arcade to try all of the tricks out. Needless to say, I still got my a** whooped. The biggest thing that's making me mess up is alot of slowing down\understeer on the tight curves. I can't get the feel of taking a very quick turn at high speeds to correct myself; I've basically ran into the guard rails too much or have to slow on other turns just to stay on the road. Now how can somebody go into a tight turn, correct yourself to point in that direction, and grip the road again without slowing down? (The guy in the vid took some of the final hairpins at over 150kmph.) I've tried everything from downshifting before\while in a turn, letting out the brake, braking very hard while trying to over steer; all while trying to get the apex of going from the outside lane, inside on the corner, and outside on the exit again. This is alot harder than it looks. -_-;;; I've only lost to Bunta by 75 meters, 5 meters more than what I had before all this. JeffForSale! 01-07-2004, 05:48 PM I usually do the "take-off" trick to the 4th gear at the start of the race and usually stay there on Happo what? for a 5 gear car, the take off it straight to 2nd, and 3rd for a 6 gear. What do you mean 4? Keitaro 01-08-2004, 01:34 AM what? for a 5 gear car, the take off it straight to 2nd, and 3rd for a 6 gear. What do you mean 4? *shrugs* I saw the "quick take-off" trick on a site around 6 months ago when Initial-D came to my town and it said to shift to 3rd when the race starts at "GO!". I've tried shifting to 4th and it's better than 3rd, but that was before I found the shift points yesterday for the Trueno on another board. Those ideal "shift points" are so much better than just shifting to a few higher gears at the start of the race. JeffForSale! 01-08-2004, 05:33 PM I just GAVE you the shift points for the Trueno.. Shifting to 4th is even more retarded than 3rd, seriously now... Whats your time on Akina? 3:08? Thats close to beating Bunta but not quite, so.. Bunta 01-09-2004, 05:39 AM Is that game really easy? Or is the dude playing in that video on CRACK? Keitaro 01-09-2004, 09:56 AM Is that game really easy? Or is the dude playing in that video on CRACK? I know, it's almost impossible for me to do those so fluidly. :screwy: But as far as I know, it's some guy from Japan. I need to write down all my times and passwords. JeffForSale! 01-09-2004, 06:49 PM Is that game really easy? Or is the dude playing in that video on CRACK? Hah :D You should see these people play, with their faces like an inch from the screen, and they move the steering wheel so quickly, its like full lock to full lock. But yeah, pretty good. When you start off, you probably wont even be able to finish Akina :p Keitaro 01-09-2004, 09:47 PM Okay, got from the arcade earlier and played Bunta at least 10 times. ($20 down the hole, so 20 games.) My records for Akina are 3' 10" (3' 9"?) on the Downhill and 3' 11" on the uphill. I practiced more of those moves from the video and the shift points; still lost to Bunta, but only by 15 meters, that's a 60 meter jump from what I had last time. I need to time my cornering more. Keitaro 01-10-2004, 03:28 PM Update: I have defeated Bunta as of today. I checked out all my times for the entire version, I don't know if I'm that good compared to other people here, but there good. My new times are Myogi Counter-clockwise: 2' 57" 925 Myogi Clockwise: 3' 01" 532 Usui CC: 3' 00" ? Usui C: 3' 00" 071 DH Akina: 3' 08" 368. UH Akina: 3' 11" ? Out Happogahara: 2' 54" 546 In Happogahara: 2' 54" 248 I've about broken almost every record for my Trueno and have the #1 spot in my arcade for UH Akina. ProjectD_Tak 01-18-2005, 12:37 PM Hey everyone kman10587 01-19-2005, 03:19 PM Your Happo times are pretty bad; I'm running 2'27 with a Trueno. There is a 2'22 Happo IB vid that you can through IRC, I'd recommend checking it out. AkinaSpecialist 01-20-2005, 08:04 AM Where the heck do you live? I didnt think ver. 1 was still around. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
