99 Taurus wipers come onawicks 01-05-2004, 06:22 PM :banghead: Another of my many Ford Taurus problems. The wipers like to come on by themselves. Can live with the wipers coming on but the noise that they make on the dry winshield is unbearable. nedward 05-13-2004, 12:28 PM Refer to post "Spooky electrical problems (99 Taurus)" This post leads you to the Tech bulletin given by ford on that wiper issue. It appears they reccomend replacing the Multi-function switch. $90 from the dealer. I havent tried it but I dont think it will be that hard. LarryKL 06-26-2004, 10:12 PM Had the same problem. Multifunction switch was the fix. Easy to install, hardest part for me was removing the ignition lock cylinder - drove me nuts. I just used a small nail to gently push up the retaining pin to remove the lock cylinder. Chilton's manual helpful. mikestone1776 06-27-2004, 01:36 AM Refer to post "Spooky electrical problems (99 Taurus)" This post leads you to the Tech bulletin given by ford on that wiper issue. I had the same problem, took the car to a locksmith who repairs steering columns. He replaced the switch with one of his "many" used ones! Same problem again. I want to locate the Ford Tech bulletin so I can convince this guy to let me buy a new switch, and let him install it. (he has my money already) Can you quote the Tech bulletin please, or point me to it.
