VR4 in SNOW

Does the AWD help a VR4 in the snow or muck things up. I've heard its the latter. Could this be correct and why??

The AWD makes it so you can accelerate very very well, and you can hold a strait line wonderfully at higher speeds than most people. The problem comes when you want to slow down or turn. AWD and ABS fucks you over. AWD takes away a lot of your turning ability, and the ABS keeps all the wheels spinning even if one or two wheels have enough traction to stop the car. I have slid through a couple stop signs because my ABS kept pumping the brakes for me even tho 2 wheels were on dry pavement and I would have stopped, just because the other 2 where on ice.

Be carefull with the car.

drift in the snow with the VR4? is it possible? i'd try it if i had a VR4. saw a GSX drift in the snow in Minnesota, has more of the back wheels goin to it, so i think u can "drift" on the snow easier...

I've driven in snow. Its no problem getting up and going with good tires. Its the stopping thats the issue. Those wide tires don't grip the slippery stuff very well.

Do not try to drift in the snow, when all 4 wheels spin you just go in the dirrection of your momentum. So you will generally slide toward the edge of the road or into a curb whenever you try to turn.

I've had the unpleasant experience of having to drive my baby in the snow a few times in Binghamton New York, and have had similar experiences. The weight of the car, the ABs and the All wheel steering, as well as 18inch wheels all effect the car's ability to stop and turn. I have 3 good tires and one that might as well be a slick, and the car fishtails on even the slightest bend in the road. It is kind of fun, but not when it happens to drift into oncoming traffic. If you can, keep it garaged and drive a junker when the bad weather comes.
