Sigmaman 01-05-2004, 04:33 PM Nice model mate. weaponCIVIC 01-05-2004, 04:50 PM weapon eh..? lol , VERY impressive model, might i ask how you did the seat belts? weaponCIVIC 01-05-2004, 04:54 PM also is that the nitrous express n-tr cooler on the intercooler...what do those things do?? as you might or..might not know, nitrous is VERY cold, it simply sprays nitrous onto the intercooler to make the air temp inside cool down even more. SonyMobile 01-05-2004, 05:21 PM MORE MORE WE WANT MORE! dam, that is great stuff, i love the takata's your work is very impressive, i am eager to see more from you! MrMet 01-05-2004, 08:47 PM Nice RX-8 One of the best models I've ever seen subyfanatic 01-05-2004, 09:08 PM DaAAaAAaAAaAAAAAAaaaaaAaMmmMmmMmmMMNNNnNnNnN!!! That's an ultra sick build, looks sweet. I don't share the love and enthusiasm for the RX8 but, your model is the best modded example of the car I've seen. I'm also a long time lurker here, maybe soon I'll show something current. Keep up the nice work! stisnan 01-05-2004, 09:57 PM OMG!! looks soo sick! WeaPoN [X] 01-06-2004, 12:27 AM Hey Guys, Thanks for all the comments! you guys/gals are awesome! im glad you like the RX-8. now to answer some Q's Spoolin: thanks for the welcome! i remember you from the HPI forums. I was TeamHyBriD with the Silver RX7 with full interior and system. How are ya dude! tc3house: yes, decals are very easy to use, first time using it and got it right the first time. exhaust smoke: speakers are from pegasus hobbies, they might be oop though. slk320: yup representing Team Hybrid here! so you know E320 Jumbo Jet (hank) and Will, thats cool. nope they didnt help me. does that mean they are into 1/24 scale cars too. Zcaitha: nope they are courtesy of my friend Gunther, off his WRC older Suby. Jowcwlaw: dont forget the J-Spec 3 rotor 950hp we dropped in right after we bought her from the dealer. harlock: more pics soon, and ill elaborate on the Harness later too. crazyheck; steering wheel is off of my friends trashed castrol supra, paited it red, applied BMF to the center and viola! the CF was applied using the technique in the FAQ, super helpful. Than i applied Future floor wax to clear coat it. Camber: hey Dark2g haha, I still got the RX-7. Sorry about the interior thing, its hard to make without the chassis on hand. Good to see you guys here, anymore HPIForum refugees? Again Thanks everyone! JeFF BTW: no suggestion on how i can better my skills...from seeing all the high-end builds on this forum, i know there is room for improvement, please let me know. WeaPoN [X] 01-06-2004, 12:53 AM Ok on to the Harnesses. It starts with Detail Master Photo-etch racing harnesses cam type. Since it was my first time using PE like this, I simplified it by using minimum parts. The green belt material is Ribbon used to hold balloons down. Trimmed down to size (by my Girl, its her car, so she wanted to do something to it, right?). The ribbon is abit hard to use, ill admit, but the color was the closest to Takata's. Detail Master does supply paper for the Belts, but in this case I opted for the Ribbon. The Takata Decal is courtesy of my Friend Gunther again, from his WRC Subaru. Just cut it out instead of using as water-slide and glue to belts. now the tricky part, taming the ribbons so they will stay put. Ribbon material love to fly everywhere. simply use thin double sided tape. if your an RC guy like me, you should have plenty. Ive seen people use Super glue with Ill effects (hazing), something i was about to do, Thanks to my friend Gunther, who works at a LHS for the tip. I even used some to place the Takatas on and give them some depth. just painted the sides and tops green. Hope this can be of some help to AF. JeFF btw: HAPPY BIRTHDAY Joe! (joecwlaw) I hope you have a blast! sweetwhiteCAV 01-06-2004, 12:57 AM that is so awesome i cant even put it into words.... ZiggyRA64 01-06-2004, 03:19 AM wow, very very nice....i liek the detail on the seatbelts yellow15 01-06-2004, 04:18 AM Awesome! Harlock 01-06-2004, 06:42 AM Thanks for the reply, again nice work. Veyron 01-06-2004, 09:44 AM I like it! Nice detail and finish! Vric 01-06-2004, 10:25 AM this show us what you can do with this kit a reference model you made there.. perfectly made ! slk320 01-06-2004, 10:51 AM more pics of your new projects! (And post some 1:1 pics of your car) Yeah Jumbo Jet Hank sounds about right ;) I need his KLEEMANN ! WeaPoN [X] 01-06-2004, 01:56 PM Thanks! You guys Rock! Vric: sweet avatar dude! I got the same pic on the BG of my cell phone. SLK320: my daily driver is stock (I wanted to throw Brabus rims on and lower it, but Im getting a new car in less than a year...undecided yet) and my project car is still in the works. BTW: your car looks hot. The pics of the next projects are gonna have to wait as im just using my AOLhomepage to host pics. need more space. I hate the AF upload minumum of 80k. My pics would start to look like Sigs. BTW: do you guys think I should put Tuner decals on it. Not in a messy way, as I hate tacky cars, but in clean places. Kinda like company show cars in SEMA. I have some red and black decals coming from Joecwlaw. Im thinking Black, Lets hear some opinions please. JeFF z_dutchie 01-06-2004, 03:13 PM that model is really COOL!!!! keep going dude :sunglasse Vric 01-06-2004, 03:40 PM '] BTW: do you guys think I should put Tuner decals on it. JeFF don't even think about it... it's perfect, don't do anything to it ! gunluvS14 01-06-2004, 04:19 PM wow, great job, nicely done. 1st time back to model car forum since 2003, this one made my day !! Flea 01-06-2004, 06:03 PM also is that the nitrous express n-tr cooler on the intercooler...what do those things do?? some of the systems actually use compresed CO2 to spray onto the air to air intercooler to drop the temp of the air within ... on the ribbon one thing that can also be done to make it keep its shape a little more ... iron them ... yeah, ... fold them where you want it .. then lightly press a steam iron onto it ... they will keep shape afterwards... JBarry 01-06-2004, 08:07 PM Very well done! In the wire, J. Barry chaos 01-06-2004, 08:14 PM WOW! Hands down, the best RX8 I've seen!! ZoomZoomMX-5 01-07-2004, 10:42 AM Best looking RX-8 I've seen on A/F! I like the factory-backed SEMA show car approach, and think that graphics/decals won't improve the look unless they're that rare, spectacular combo that just works. That's the hard part-you could spend more time on that than the rest of the model. This is only your fourth model? :eek7: Wow, can't wait to see your fifth! At the rate you're going, you're in the A-list already! SpoonMan Dos 01-07-2004, 07:53 PM don't even think about it... it's perfect, don't do anything to it ! I agree with Vric 100%. Your RX-8 looks perfect, I wouldn't add a thing. Welcome, and thanx for sharing. joecwlaw 01-07-2004, 09:42 PM ']Ok on to the Harnesses. Once again top job RotaryX82003 07-12-2004, 05:46 PM sorry to bring up an old thread, but i just had to comment on this masterpeice. i had to because i drive an RX8 and am a big rx7-8 fan. you did this car the justice it deserves. if i had enough dough to tune it up i would want it to look something like this. very clean and subtle. are you planning anymore mazdas ZoomZoomMX-5 07-12-2004, 07:00 PM dude, rotary you have 3 posts and in two of them you ressurected(sp?) old threads. it was 5 months ago leave it alone. Read the rules. There's no crime in resurrecting an old thread. I'm sure he found it by doing a search. Most new members search out threads of their interest. That's how I started here. Starting mindless new threads is one thing, but it's perfectly fine to comment on an old thread. It should be a crime in scaring away new members by being pushy with them. :nono: It won't hurt to try to be a bit friendlier w/newcomers. :) Vric 07-12-2004, 07:26 PM Most new members search out threads of their interest. False, Most new user don't even search so don't bash on this one ! RotaryX82003 07-12-2004, 07:26 PM http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/customavatars/avatar163613_1.gif dude, rotary you have 3 posts and in two of them you ressurected(sp?) old threads. it was 5 months ago leave it alone. Read the rules. hmm, ok let me read the rules. please look at fourth faq (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=63623) cut and pasted from af car modeling faq. Is it okay to post in old threads? (Post #43) The reason we use a thread format is so that posts about a similar topic are all in the same place. It is preferable to post anything about model X in the thread about model X, regardless of how old the thread is, so that when people go looking for information about model X, it will be easy to find. That's why we don't delete or lock old threads. If you have something to add to an old thread, then by all means, bring it back up. Last edited by jay@af on 09-17-2002 at 04:59 PM. by the last edit, this is nearly a 2 year rule, i have been here for a day, youve been here since Mar 2004, maybe YOU should take some time and look at the rules. and if it was a problem you could have easily PM'd me instead of messing up this thread. lastly my first sentence indicates that i did say sorry for bringing up an old thread where a sorry was not even needed. i was just trying to be corteous i guess, something you should consider trying. again YOU please READ. Thank YOU for the warm welcome btw. and thanks zoomzoommx-5 sorry for me acting like a monkey and messing up this thread also. Vric 07-12-2004, 07:28 PM Haha.. That's part of the reason so many talented modellers leave and and the idiots we get stuck with stick around. It's okay though; I have a cure for that... GTmike400 07-12-2004, 08:31 PM The only bad ressurecting is when its an absolutely pointless resurect. primesuspect407 07-12-2004, 08:44 PM ok im sorry i didnt mean to cause any fights or anything i just thought he should try posting in newer topics not ones 5 months old i didnt mean to get anyone mad at me or anything exhaust smoke 07-13-2004, 11:48 AM Definitely 10/10! lotus_man 07-13-2004, 04:00 PM This is getting off topic, but I agree. Bumping threads (i.e. ressurecting your own thread to gain interest) is wrong. Commenting on a thread because you missed it first time round is fine. If he wants to give props to WeaponX thats fine by me. This is a cool build and I'd forgotten it, so it was kinda nice to see it again. turbo type-r 07-13-2004, 05:03 PM yeah this rx8 does look hott guys [ ontopic ] hug 07-14-2004, 06:41 PM beautifull :smokin: Apexi_N1 07-20-2004, 03:29 PM Oh god, I've never seen it (I'm a newbie) but that's a AWESOME job! WeaPoN [X] 07-24-2004, 10:22 PM whoa! almost didnt want to reply back in my own thread. Thanks to everyone for the kind words. Im surprised people are still interested in this model. The RX-8 has been on Racing Hart C-R's as stated at the start of this post. Got the C-R's a week after this photoshoot was taken. IMO it looks even better now. Sorry I havent been able to post anything new. I've been on a BIG modeling slump which I hope to end soon with an OTB build...well maybe some aftermarket rims wont hurt :smokin:. Im also looking for a place to host my pics. Again thanks everybody, these comments are motivating me to jump of this slump im in. I appreciate it AF! JeFF WeaPoN [X] 07-24-2004, 10:39 PM Vric,ZoomZomMX-5, and SpoonMan Dos: went with your suggestion's and kept it clean. Thanks guys. 2f4u: i know your post is a little old (sorry about that) but the NOS bottle is from Detail Masters, I acquired them from my LHS 12.00 for 2. Turned aluminum bottles with PE accesories. MikeUnited: Actually only took a month to build. a month of working day and night almost everyday though. :naughty: RotaryX82003: I have 2 7's in my stable of unbuilt models. one is the C-west 7 with rotary conversion from the Tamiya R1. (I managed to scrounge the motor off of my cousins old scrapped R1 model he built about 12 years ago.) Other one is the Greddy9. No plans for that yet. thanks for your interest. again sorry for the late replies, wasnt paying attention. JeFF vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
