Hey guys...Long time lurker (about 6 months) here. Just want to show you guys my latest work. This is my 4th completed model, not counting my other failed attempts when I was about 12-13 years old, im 25 now. I actually found this place by accident, ever since than ive been hooked again. I have about 65 kits in my closet in the 6 months that ive been lurking, so expect to see Projects from me every once in awhile. I can make a list and supply pics of all my kits if you guys want. Ill also be posting my other finished projects soon (Ducati 916, 41 Willys, and Ford Flipnose)

Also want to say...Thank you! to all of AF for inspiring me to return to this hobby. Thank You! for the FAQ, its where I learned lots of stuff on modeling. You guys all seem like a really cool and talented bunch.

as you might or..might not know, nitrous is VERY cold, it simply sprays nitrous onto the intercooler to make the air temp inside cool down even more.

tc3house: yes, decals are very easy to use, first time using it and got it right the first time.

exhaust smoke: speakers are from pegasus hobbies, they might be oop though.

slk320: yup representing Team Hybrid here! so you know E320 Jumbo Jet (hank) and Will, thats cool. nope they didnt help me. does that mean they are into 1/24 scale cars too.

Zcaitha: nope they are courtesy of my friend Gunther, off his WRC older Suby.

Jowcwlaw: dont forget the J-Spec 3 rotor 950hp we dropped in right after we bought her from the dealer. :wink:

harlock: more pics soon, and ill elaborate on the Harness later too.

crazyheck; steering wheel is off of my friends trashed castrol supra, paited it red, applied BMF to the center and viola!
the CF was applied using the technique in the FAQ, super helpful. Than i applied Future floor wax to clear coat it.

Camber: hey Dark2g haha, I still got the RX-7. Sorry about the interior thing, its hard to make without the chassis on hand. Good to see you guys here, anymore HPIForum refugees?

BTW: no suggestion on how i can better my skills...from seeing all the high-end builds on this forum, i know there is room for improvement, please let me know.

Ok on to the Harnesses.

It starts with Detail Master Photo-etch racing harnesses cam type. Since it was my first time using PE like this, I simplified it by using minimum parts. The green belt material is Ribbon used to hold balloons down. Trimmed down to size (by my Girl, its her car, so she wanted to do something to it, right?). The ribbon is abit hard to use, ill admit, but the color was the closest to Takata's. Detail Master does supply paper for the Belts, but in this case I opted for the Ribbon. The Takata Decal is courtesy of my Friend Gunther again, from his WRC Subaru. Just cut it out instead of using as water-slide and glue to belts.

now the tricky part, taming the ribbons so they will stay put. Ribbon material love to fly everywhere. simply use thin double sided tape. if your an RC guy like me, you should have plenty. Ive seen people use Super glue with Ill effects (hazing), something i was about to do, Thanks to my friend Gunther, who works at a LHS for the tip. I even used some to place the Takatas on and give them some depth. just painted the sides and tops green.

Hope this can be of some help to AF.

SLK320: my daily driver is stock (I wanted to throw Brabus rims on and lower it, but Im getting a new car in less than a year...undecided yet) and my project car is still in the works. BTW: your car looks hot. The pics of the next projects are gonna have to wait as im just using my AOLhomepage to host pics. need more space. I hate the AF upload minumum of 80k. My pics would start to look like Sigs.

some of the systems actually use compresed CO2 to spray onto the air to air intercooler to drop the temp of the air within ...

on the ribbon one thing that can also be done to make it keep its shape a little more ... iron them ... yeah, ... fold them where you want it .. then lightly press a steam iron onto it ... they will keep shape afterwards...

Best looking RX-8 I've seen on A/F!

I like the factory-backed SEMA show car approach, and think that graphics/decals won't improve the look unless they're that rare, spectacular combo that just works. That's the hard part-you could spend more time on that than the rest of the model.

sorry to bring up an old thread, but i just had to comment on this masterpeice. i had to because i drive an RX8 and am a big rx7-8 fan. you did this car the justice it deserves. if i had enough dough to tune it up i would want it to look something like this. very clean and subtle. are you planning anymore mazdas

I agree 100 percent!! That's part of the reason so many talented modellers leave and and the idiots we get stuck with stick around. It's okay though; I have a cure for that...

This is getting off topic, but I agree. Bumping threads (i.e. ressurecting your own thread to gain interest) is wrong. Commenting on a thread because you missed it first time round is fine. If he wants to give props to WeaponX thats fine by me. This is a cool build and I'd forgotten it, so it was kinda nice to see it again.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words. Im surprised people are still interested in this model. The RX-8 has been on Racing Hart C-R's as stated at the start of this post. Got the C-R's a week after this photoshoot was taken. IMO it looks even better now.

Sorry I havent been able to post anything new. I've been on a BIG modeling slump which I hope to end soon with an OTB build...well maybe some aftermarket rims wont hurt :smokin:. Im also looking for a place to host my pics.

Again thanks everybody, these comments are motivating me to jump of this slump im in. I appreciate it AF!

2f4u: i know your post is a little old (sorry about that) but the NOS bottle is from Detail Masters, I acquired them from my LHS 12.00 for 2. Turned aluminum bottles with PE accesories.

RotaryX82003: I have 2 7's in my stable of unbuilt models. one is the C-west 7 with rotary conversion from the Tamiya R1. (I managed to scrounge the motor off of my cousins old scrapped R1 model he built about 12 years ago.) Other one is the Greddy9. No plans for that yet. thanks for your interest.
