1964 Pontiac GTO progressgrandprix92 01-04-2004, 09:37 PM this is my 1964 Pontiac GTO I got for christmas. It's painted in Testors Transparent Blue. It's a little watery and runny but I got a pretty good and shinny coat with it. http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid97/p643d584ba907761eead246cd360ff022/fa110bcb.jpg http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid97/p3ecf24c7a360d13c74ca96fbab70c411/fa110abb.jpg Its only in the interior so you can see the wires. They were a pain to put on so there's only 4. http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid97/p881cb9c80e3224e2113c03f83f40b931/fa110ae8.jpg I know you can't see them too well but these are my 2 choices for rims. http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid97/p2b5e4f33ca12b2f05a875cbe3f97f61b/fa110b9c.jpg http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid97/pd51f79aa22703c4c54ecf607d69ccfaf/fa110b71.jpg http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid97/pd870d5006f2d1640b69e14ad825c6aba/fa110b33.jpg now there's shine. best from me yet anyways. :sunglasse opinions? ::EDIT:: Josh pointed out the title says 68 GTO. I meant 64...sorry. Thanks Josh. pre98zetec 01-04-2004, 09:45 PM Looks good Kevin, Need to spray a Silver or Gold base coat on transperant paint though.... Josh Purpura Delujo 01-04-2004, 09:51 PM Are you going to finish wiring the engine? grandprix92 01-04-2004, 09:52 PM Are you going to finish wiring the engine? Probably later. after Im finished with everything else and ready for it to be dropped and glued onto the frame. ProSStreet 01-04-2004, 10:05 PM you really need a base coat under the transparent paint bro, you can totally see the plastic. I can see its shinin like a mother though, woulda been better with a gold or silver flake under it. SchuberT 01-04-2004, 10:23 PM maybe he likes the effect... just a thought... looking good from what i can see... great job grandprix92 01-04-2004, 10:29 PM you really need a base coat under the transparent paint bro, you can totally see the plastic. EMAXX 01-05-2004, 09:02 AM It doesn't even look like you used primer. Did you? grandprix92 01-05-2004, 02:19 PM Ya I did. It's not on that can though. I didn't get a good coat though. I dislike Testors. grandprix92 01-05-2004, 06:36 PM Well, this was actually a quick build. I have it completely finished right now and finished wiring the engine completely. here's some pics: http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid97/p4d87b78deb6e94bb1761db348d1d9a8d/fa0e0eec.jpg http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid97/pea8de8f9243b57ec6a633aa980834149/fa0e0ee4.jpg reflection of our tiki tourch on the trunk. http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid97/p0f9e2b20a5bbfa376e0102ae6b2f4b4d/fa0e0edb.jpg http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid97/p1dfd7d4e5ac779ec076e1095bb1e139d/fa0e0ed1.jpg http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid97/p25d75a2e69710f9342a66a8df66dd776/fa0e0ecc.jpg http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid97/p5dae1638c51fa4e7bd19bc81cae54da0/fa0e0ec7.jpg http://www.imagestation.com/picture/sraid97/p0d92c7f87430194749a3bf3b2c6deaf7/fa0e0ebb.jpg there it is. opinions...again? 86_SR5 01-05-2004, 08:15 PM looks good. nice paint, some silver, or krylon chrome under there would look sick! btw, what engine is this? grandprix92 01-05-2004, 08:23 PM looks good. nice paint, some silver, or krylon chrome under there would look sick! btw, what engine is this? 400ci I believe. Layla's Keeper 01-05-2004, 10:19 PM A: The engine is a 389ci from the Pontiac "Super Duty" family. B: Not only does it look like there's no primer or basecoat beneath the paint, but you picked up some horrific runs. The paint has puddled on the raised character lines of the body and slid off the curves. It looks very slapdash and very rushed. And I know it was rushed because the only way you pick up runs that bad is by laying down all the paint at once instead of building up color in fine mist coats. It doesn't matter what brand paint you use, because I know modelers who've got incredible finished using Krylon. It's when you rush that mistakes like that paintjob happen. Sorry, but you need to strip the body and start over again. 86_SR5 01-06-2004, 05:36 PM I not only use krylon, I use cheap paints, stuff that costs like 94cents a can, and I mix and match paints, clear coats, I could use tamiya primer, 94cent color, and dupli-color clear coat and get a great finish, it's all in the way you spray. grandprix92 01-06-2004, 06:26 PM Where do you guys get clear coat at? vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
