Started a new kit on this boring, rainy, last day of vacation. Its the AMT 70' Monte Carlo Lowrider. Just giving it some new wheels and a new exhaust. Color may be a lightish blue with a flat black roof, but not final yet.

Sweet man, good to see another monte. As for colour I wouldn't do light blue with black if I were you, for a lowrider that isn't such a standout combo, there look really good white with tan interior, or black with black interior and gold pinstriping. Just a suggestion.

nice, exhaust system is sick. You make it yourself? I'd go a classic candy red for paint, or maybe a newer candy green with a black roof. Wheels look awesome too.

Thanks for the replies all. Yes, the exhaust was scratchbuilt by me. Used the stock piping for the piping (lol), just cut it and puttied it back together.

As for the color, what about a medium blue (ex: blue mica) with a tan interior? I think that would set everything off nice.

AFX Scale Resin makes a nice cowl induction hood for this kit.

just my 2 cents, i think you should do a light tan roof. black i think would contrast too much.

With the Mica Blue that would look pretty cool. But I think a semi-gloss black would look a little better.

If you're going to paint it mica blue then there has to be a white roof over any other colour, with white/blue interior, but it's just my opinion.

A mica blue? hmm, a white roof would look good with a mica blue, but what about a darker metallic blue with a white roof and tan interior with all the lowrider cues? A much better look, methinks.

Another update. Interior finished. Nothing special, just used tamiya acrylic "buff" for most of it. Some seatbelts were added also, along with a monte carlo model box :smokin:.

It actually came with the kit on the decal sheet. So i cut it up and glued it together.

Purpura Delujo: I'm kinda leaning towards a white now also. It would look so good with the tan interior.

Thanks for the replies.

Ey man just use P D its quicker ;)
Yeah white will look sweet on the tan, white would look 2 times better with gold wheels though. Maybe the Tamiya racing white, so it's a little more 'creamier'?

Finally an update. I was going to enter this into the lowrider contest, but now I'm not because I don't want to rush to make the deadline.

I cut open the trunk, and added the 4 pumps 2 batteries and an amp behind the fold down tv. The interior got a dash mounted PS2, and a display screen on top of the dash. I also cut the suspension to allow the car to sit on three wheels. Enjoy.

The controller was made with tamiya epoxy putty. It was shaped with my fingers (dipped in water) and then stuck to something to dry. I used an X-Acto knife to make the d-pad by pressing down twice and making an X. The buttons were made by the X-Acto also. There are no joysticks on this controller, so that makes it a bit inaccurate. Thanks for the replies.

looks great dude. those exit pipes give it a muscle car look while retaining the lowrider style. keep up the good work with this one, it should be as badass as the s13 you did!

I was wondering when you would update this, or where it went for that matter. stupid how amt provided pumps and batteries with the kit and the kit has a closed trunk. I guess its good for a spare setup if you aren't able to cut the trunk open.
Still lookin geat and I think you just inspired me to go out and get one of these even more now.

Lol tom, theres one problem, you suck at NFSU. :evillol:

Purpura Delujo: The trunk wasnt to hard to open up, its just that when you do, the trunk lid loses a lot of its size, and the whole rear needs to be reconstructed. I did a sloppy job, but now that its sanded its just right. I just need to extend the trunk lid so that it fits back on. Thanks for the replies everyone.
