I just purchased a 1987 Ford Ranger 4cyl w/ fuel injection. The vehicle idles fine and run good.

The problem that I am having is the fact that the engine has low power. It is most noticable when manually shifting from 1st to 2nd gear when the transmission asks more of the engine. Like I said it runs fine, just w/ little power. Please reply back with any ideas...oxgen sensor...pvc valve...?

The O2 sensor would probably trigger the "check engine" light.Other than regular tune-up stuff I would recommend a compression test.That gives a good indication of the general health of the engine.
