I have a 96 Monte that all of a sudden had the directional signals stop working. I first thought that a light was out, but I put the hazard lights on and all of the lights worked. The directionals even lit up intermittently on the inside of the car. No other lights are having problems.

None of the directional on the outside (front, back, or sides) light up or does any clicking noise or light appear inside of the car. I checked the fuse on the passenger side of the car and it is good.

Any ideas what to try next?

Since the problem was never intermittent, I do not think that it is a wire problem, however I could be wrong.

I had this same problem for the past 3 or 4 weeks and just brought my car in to get fixed. I had to have my turn signal lever replaced, which was the reason why my brakelights didnt work and why I had lost some turn signal functionality. The cost for this repair is about $68 for new switch, and about $125 for labor. I hope this helps your narrow down your search for the problem, one tip for ya is to get a buddy and at night so you can see your blinkers well, turn your blinkers on and fiddle with that turn signal switch, move it up,down, left, right, push on it harder, pull back a bit, etc. Good Luck
