Sorry to report that on FWD autos there is no easy way to R & R engine/transmissions regardless of make. If you would like to view detailed info regarding same go to www.batauto.com. Scroll down and someone has detailed complete instructions out of the manual. Vehicle hoist is a necessary item.

The Taurus is pretty roomy for FWD. It is one of the easier ones to pull. You can pull the engine trans out the top just like older RWD cars or you can drop the cradle . I pulled the engine and transaxle together out the top.

Thanks for the info I need to do mine in 96 Sable wagon. AXOD trany shakes and slips 170k miles on the old thing.
