Dash

I replaced my alternator for my 86 nissan 300zx and when i reconnected the batterry, the fuse bax near the battery sparked and smoked. Now my dash doesnt work, no internal lights, radio, HEAT, nothing. Not even the wipers. can someone please tell me if im hosed. Im not sure what to do at this point.

one of the things i can think of that went wrong is you connected the altenator backwards. i dont know what to do if you did that, i have just heard of people connecting it backwards and that fried everything.
