Service manual or repair manual???Stizzymack 12-31-2003, 11:24 PM I would like to learn how to repair my car, but I don't know should I be buying a "repair manual" or a "service manual"? Or do they both contain the same information..... ciras3 01-01-2004, 01:00 PM Hi, I try to purchase both of them for my cars. The "service manual" is the actual manual that the GM technicians use at the dealership. They are a little pricey but contain the flow charts to help you troubleshoot anything on your car. The "repair manuals" are only about $12 at most auto parts stores. I normally get the Haynes manual. They are full of pictures and are way helpful. Depening on how much you plan on working on your own car, I would recommend starting with the Haynes manual and then if there are issues you can't solve go with purchasing the GM service manual. Hope this helps, C.
