I would like to learn how to repair my car, but I don't know should I be buying a "repair manual" or a "service manual"? Or do they both contain the same information.....

Hi,

I try to purchase both of them for my cars. The "service manual" is the actual manual that the GM technicians use at the dealership. They are a little pricey but contain the flow charts to help you troubleshoot anything on your car. The "repair manuals" are only about $12 at most auto parts stores. I normally get the Haynes manual. They are full of pictures and are way helpful. Depening on how much you plan on working on your own car, I would recommend starting with the Haynes manual and then if there are issues you can't solve go with purchasing the GM service manual.

Hope this helps,

C. Smith

Go for the repair book first.Haynes or Chilton do a pretty good job at basic repair/maintiance.
