Anyone else experienced this problem:

My "Lamp Out" warning indicator on dash panel flashes sporadically. In theory, this should mean that some exterior bulb is dead. None are. The problem is this: Dodge, in their infinite wisdom, set the warning system up such that a little chime goes off everytime a warning light comes on. This works fine when a light comes on and stays on. For example, the "low fuel" light generates the same chime.

My "lamp out" flickers. As such, I get a nice little reminder chime once every 30 seconds or so. On a two hour trip, this becomes quite annoying.

The truck has been to the dealer, but in essence, they can't "find" a problem :banghead: therefore it does not exist.

Lights don't bother me. Chimes do. I would be perfectly happy to just turn off the chime. The dealer won't do it for safety and liability reasons. Like a distracting little chime every 30 seconds isn't a safety issue all in its own right.

Anyone had this problem, know if you can turn the warning chimes off, or have any advice??? Anything. Anything. I'm going insane on long trips.

Wow,

Call this number: 1-800-992-1997. That is the number I call when I have a problem. It is the dodge hotline and they usually make sure the dealership does what they are supposed to do. I call so much they just fix the problems so I don't call back.

Good luck,
Bob

I think I'll be sticking that number in my owner's manual. Thank you.

I'd be a psycho case if this was happening to me. My mom's van does it all the time and we don't know what to do about it either, and I know how bad it is.

I hope you guys find a cure for this soon.

This happened to me just a couple days ago. It started with a very intermittent dinging (from 1 to 10 dings), then it was almost constant. Unfortunately, I was on vacation comming home and had to deal with a constant dinging sound for the last 10 hours of my trip! I will be bringing in my truck within a week or so, but I will have nightmares of that dinging sound forever!

Drop 2 gears and put the pedal on the rugs! That should take away the sound.

That's not very smart. I dunno what else to tell you. Like I said, I hate these things so much too...

We also have the intermittent "Lamp Out" with the chimes which are driving us crazy. Has anyone had any luck with a fix? Have read about poor connections in the tail lights and bad PC cards ( not sure what they are). The dealer has looked once with no luck and we have another appointment scheduled next week.

Thanks, Cline Sweet

Had the same problem, just change out the all lights in the back of the truck (this includes to back up lights)...it fixed the problem on my truck.

I have the same problem in my 2004 Dodge ram 3500 pickup with the intermittent dinging, does anyone please know how to fix it? It's been in the shop twice.

My 04 Ram 1500 4x4 had this issue. Turned out to be moisture in the rear circuit board sockets that the bulbs plug into. Pulled them blew them out with air and applied die electric grease. Hasn't happened since.

Thanks for sharing shriver_racing!

Now for the important stuff, what kind of racing?

High bank 1/2 mile clay. Bombers to Late models.

Most coool!
I get to work on some circle track race car parts pretty regular, mostly heads and intake parts. The boss is an old time carburetor guru.

I don't do a lot of my own machine work. Dart Iron Eagle Platinum II heads .202/.2055 valves. 230 cc intake runners. Victor high rise intake, with a Holley BLP Carb. I assemble my own motors and transmissions, but not too much into the precision work. lol

355 cu.in.?
Do you have to meet engine vacuum specs?

shriver_racing

Beginning to run the 434 strokers in all classes, no vacuum rules as of yet, but I do see it coming. lol
It seems like the 355 cid doesn't like to hold up to the big half mile??

434, ya'll using Dart blocks?
The local asphalt tracks here stopped the open motors, gotta run spec or crate.
Because we have a flow bench, the rulemakers think our customers have an unfair advantage....even for things you don't use a flow bench for, like unmodified carburetors.
So they get torn down regularly and pretty excessive too.
One had all 16 lifters taken apart to be sure they were all hydraulic. That's ok, he had 7 1st's and 5 2nd's out of 12 races and won the points championship....lol

Impressive records there. We run stock blocks, decked and bored. Stroker crank. The teardown thing..........Yeah we run into that too. More so because other racers are just big whiney asses. lol

Yeah
One customer was bummed out by the rule letting modified run with stock chassis trucks...2300-2000 Pinto engines. I told him to get some dirt tires and start having fun.
