Strut Boot?Dumped91Hatch 12-30-2003, 10:58 PM I was just wondering if any of you have rubber strut boots on your struts. When I put on my coilovers I had to get rid of the factory metal one. Now I have ordered a set of KYB GR2's and was wondering if it is necessary to use these or if it even matters. BullShifter 12-31-2003, 03:23 AM YES!!!!!!!! if the strut/shock rod becomes dirty, it WILL damage the seal. Resulting in, guess what? A nice leak & now you need a new strut(no warranty) because of a $15 part. Now is a good time to replace the upper strut mount bushings as well. Don't forget to cut the bump stops in 1/2(shorten) KYB makes both - www.tirerack.com Dumped91Hatch 12-31-2003, 12:57 PM Why cut the bump stops? BullShifter 12-31-2003, 04:39 PM Why cut the bump stops? The bump stops should be cut to increase suspension travel reduced by lowering. You don't want to leave them off because you run the chance of bottoming out - metal to metal. Not only can it damage the suspension parts, it could hurt some one in the car. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
