Where do you guys get really small drills?

Where do you guys get really small drills? I cant find any REAL small ones. Do you guys have any sugjestions. And how much are they.

Better hobby shops should carry them. I've found them at Wood Workers Warehouse and such. Try to look where they sell Dremel tools also.

Cost vary . . . I've seen sets from $10 all the way up to $50.

I just bought myself something called a "pin vise" from a local Hobby store. It is a small handheld drill that holds up to 0.5 mm drill bits. In our currency it cost R45.00. That is about 7.5 Dollars I think. Maybe you could ask around at your local hobby store. :)

My dad has tons of tools, and he has just about everything, so I just find them in one of his 8 tool boxes.:)

Mini drill bits and a pin vise ( a small handheld drill ) are ESSENTIAL tools for the modeler.
Pin vises can be purchased starting at about $4.99 for a mini drill to about $10 for the swivel head type.
The bits come in tons of sizes but after 30+ years of building I've found that the ones I most frequently use are #70, #72, #74, #76, #78, #80. As for the drill bits themselves the best source I've found is "Model Expo" ( http://www.modelexpo-online.com/ ).
A pack of 10 is only $1.49 ( list $ is $4.95 )!! Look under "Hand Tools" then "Drilling" to find them listed.

CarmodDave, that's a very good site. I found a Carbon Steel Precision Drill Set for $16.99, while my LHS holds them for around $30-$35!

I just get a Torch Tip Cleaner from the welding section of the local farm store orhome improvement center.

It looks kind of like a large aluminum pen and contains a selection of small drill bits inside the handle. Price? About 6 bucks.

i got a pin vise for $11.99 from the sears catalog. :)

The drilll bits I have and frequently use are 0.2mm, 0.3mm all the way up to 1.0mm, then 1.2, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5 and 3.0, that matches the common plastic rods and pipes. Railroad model stores tend to carry small bits.

I was just about to ask this as I want to make rims seem more real to life(i.e., holes in steelie rims).
