Brake Noises

This only happens when im backing up n press the brakes an elephant nois comes from the brakes, like a loud rubbing noise like only when i touch the brakes once after that they never do it again even if im backing up

This is a common noise. It's just the brakes rubbing. If you are real worried, check the condition of the pads. Make sure the rotors are smooth and straight. And make sure the caliper is opening up all the way when the brakes aren't applied. The W-body brakes made before 94 tend to sieze.

My 97 Lumina does this too. I inspect my brakes each tire rotation (6,000) miles and the brakes are just fine. However, every morning as I back out of the driveway I get the squealing sound and then it goes away. The brake drums must get corroded a bit each night and the oxidation gets taken off with the first backing up each morning.
