lost 98 pathfinder key fobtkpathfinder 12-22-2003, 08:20 PM i lost one of my two keyless remotes for 98 pathfinder. can the remaining remote be reprogrammed so that the lost remote doesn't work? lewisnc100 12-23-2003, 11:50 AM Here's the steps, you can also find a new remote on ebay for around 15-20 bucks, just search for the same FCC ID that is on the back of your current remote and it should match: Close and lock all doors. Erase original ID codes(s) by inserting and removing key from ignition switch more than 6 times within 10 seconds. Hazard warning lights should flash twice. Turn ignition switch to ACC position. Puch lock button on new remote control once. Hazard warning lights should flash twice, indicating ID code for new remote control has been entered. To enter additional remote control ID code(s), unlock driver's door and then lock it using door lock knob. Press lock button on new remote control once to enter ID code. A maximum of 4 remote control ID codes can be entered. If same ID code is entered more than once, the entry is ignored even though hazard warning lights will still flash twice. TO exit programing (ID entry) mode, open driver's door. tkpathfinder 12-23-2003, 06:38 PM Thanks--worked great and saved a trip to the dealer! lewisnc100 12-24-2003, 07:03 AM Thanks--worked great and saved a trip to the dealer! Glad to hear it worked for you, now you can just follow the same steps if you get another remote. I just bought one on EBAY for my Ford that was $14.50 which included the remote and shipping and was in perfect condition. gginter 05-20-2004, 11:31 PM Be careful buying a remote off E-bay, even with the same FCC ID. Make sure the Icons on the buttons are identical. I bought one with the same FCC ID but different Icons (for my 98) it didn't work. billm 05-29-2004, 12:21 AM I've tried to get my remotes programmed a few times...first time hazard light flashed, etc...but I messed up and didn't complete the full programming. Now I can't seem to get back into "programming mode". Inserting the key in the ignition 6 times within 10 seconds no longer causes the hazard lights to flash. Any help would be greatly appreciated. gginter 05-29-2004, 01:28 AM I've tried to get my remotes programmed a few times...first time hazard light flashed, etc...but I messed up and didn't complete the full programming. Now I can't seem to get back into "programming mode". Inserting the key in the ignition 6 times within 10 seconds no longer causes the hazard lights to flash. Any help would be greatly appreciated. All the information I have states you must program all remotes at the same time. I suggest the following: Program remote #1 (original) Close and lock all doors using the driver's side power door lock/unlock switch. Insert and remove key from ignition switch more than 6 times within 10 seconds. Withdraw key entirely from the ignition. Do not rush! Turn ignition switch to ACC position, leave in ACC for the entire programming period. Press any button on the remote - one time only. The hazard warning lights should flash twice, indicating the procedure was successful. Program remote #2 ( stay in car) Again, using the driver's side power door lock/unlock switch - unlock then lock the doors. Press any button on the remote - one time only. The hazard warning lights should flash twice, indicating the procedure was successful. The same procedure is follower for up to 4 remotes. Remove the key from the ignition & unlock the doors with the driver's side power door lock/unlock switch to end programming. Test both remotes. If this doesn't work I would call a Nissan service Dept. and ask them what they suggest. You can try more than one to see what answers they give you. I'm sure they will try to help over the phone. Good Luck!
