brakes replacement 1993 exlporerdoe7 12-22-2003, 12:49 PM Does anyone hear know if the front calipers just calapse in or do they need to be turned? please help the car is up on jack stands now!!!!!! XLT03 12-22-2003, 10:22 PM Rotors are turned not calipers. As a matter of good practice rotors should be turned when you replace pads otherwise somewhere down the road you'll get brake pulsation when you step on the brake. To make removing the caliper easier pry back the pads before removing the calipers pins (2). As long as you got this far remove the rotor and have them turned, you won't regret it later. 4caster 01-06-2004, 01:24 AM You can normally get your rotorsw resurfacd for $10 a side versus $45 for a replacement rotor. Another important thing to note is that it is important to torque your front wheels with a torque wrench to ensure that the heat is evenly distributed over the rotor during braking. If you do not torque the front wheels, you may accelerate the warping of trhe rotors. 4caster vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
