I have a '02 Golf GLS TDI - Yesterday the radio worked fine. Today, I start up the car, the radio wont come on. I turned the car back off, started it again - still nothing. I checked the fuses - all fine. SAFE won't show in the display - nothing will show in the display? The red alarm light will blink about once every minute - thats it - nothing else will work. I called the dealer service department - they said I have a fried panel in the radio and I have to replace the radio to a tune of minimum $580 plus the typical $90 inspection fee. There's still a CD in the radio I cant get out. How convienient - the car is 7000 miles over the bumper to bumper warranty! Who ever heard of a radio crapping out! Has anyone ever had this problem - is a panelboard really the problem? HELP please someone!!!!
