Has anybody ever rebuilt a 4L30E transmission that goes into the v6 Rodeos and Honda Passports? If so, are there any weird out of the ordinary issues I may run into? I am planning on using the the ATSG (Automatic Transmission Service Grouip) manual specific for the 4L30E. Upon checking the price of rebuilt transmissions & doing some research, I realised that the Rodeo uses the same 4L30E transmission as the BMW 3 series and the Cadillac Catera! The price of a rebuild at the local shop is $1,300 as opposed to the master rebuild kit at about $125! :2cents: This is the same Borg Warner kit that the shops and the dealership use. I am open to any & all suggestions. Thank you.

Depending on your knowledge and experience, rebuilding and automatic transmission can be your worst nightmare. I would strongly suggest looking into the difficulty of the job before I would decide to go ahead and do it.

Do a "4L30E" search on eBay. I've seen new & rebuilt units for around $1000.

Rebuilding automatic transmissions takes alot of very specialized tools that you can't get at your local Sears. Also takes alot of knowledge you can't get in a Chilton manual.
