I'd like to get different opinions on the matter...truthfully speaking, because a Honda is a Honda...i lean more that way...but after seeing what the RX-8 is capeable of, and has featured...i don't know ...which do you all think is better?

the regular nsx will still beat the rx-8. yes 238 hp from a 1.3l rotary engine is impressive but its going to need a lot more power to beat the the nsx-r. in general the rx-8 does the 1/4 mile in the mid 14's whereas the the nsx-r does it in 13 sec.

This is nowhere near a comparison. I like the look of the RX-8, It is a pretty car, Still...... its looks don't compare with an NSX. Never mind the "R" type. I also like the "R" but would never buy one. First it is Rare, And we are talking rare amongest a rare car. Second, It has no power steering and no air conditioning, (Had to dump that weight somehow). To me, the non-R is fast enough, I'll keep my comfort in exchange for a bit less speed......I'll never see 170 anyways. By the way, A used NSX would be in the same ballpark pricewise, I bought my 98 under $50k, I'm sure you could do better with a bit older one.

You should be comparing the rx-8 with the s2000, now that is a comparison!

Fuck the RX8. After Mazda's debacle witht he miata, you'd think they'd get their power output right. Sons of Bitches. They got all those people to buy them, then said "oops we fucked up, sorry." That's why they're buying them back now. It's good looking, but I'd take a S2k or used NSX in a second. No disrespect to MIATARACER or any other Mazda folks, I just can't fuck with that. Holler

yeah, i'd say the rx-8 is more comparable to the s2000 than an nsx. small displacement engines with ridiculously high redlines which you need to be at to get any power out of either powerplant, but between an rx-8 and s2000, i'd take the s2000 in a heartbeat. the nsx versus the rx-8, that shouldn't deserve a thought in the first place, totally different leagues here.

a NSX will destroy a RX8. the RX8 stock is slow. they take 15.9 seconds hit 100mph. thats pathetic. the NSX even the 3.0's with the 5 speed can hit 100 in 13 seconds. with the 3.2 and 6 speed hitting it in the high 12 second range. and the type R can probrably hit 100mph in the low 12 seconds. lets put it this way. the newest NSX R can destroy hte fastest RX ever made. which is the RX-7 RZ. its the striped down high output version for the race track. its much faster then the 260hp u.s spec R1 and much faster then the full blown 280hp R2's in japan.

i never really look at 100 mhp times, they do sound legit but theres no way a stock integra type-r can beat any stock nsx.

Just to echo previous posts, there really is no comparison. The NSX-R annihilates the RX-8

The Standard NSX annihalates the RX8 comfortably and that'd be my NSX, track+street Blend, as opposed to the track or bust outlay of the NSX-R

i never said integra type R. i'm talkin about the NSX-R. the newest version from the 3.2 liter 6 speed that runs a low 12 on the 1/4 mile. the RX-8 is a nice car it handles well, and everything but theres one problem. its lacking any sense of balls. and anyways 0-60 time is not a good determination of speed and hp. it takes almost no hp to hit 60mph. however once you acelerate past 60mph on to 100mph. then you see the big difference in hp. the RX-8 hits the 1/4 mile in 14.5 @ 95.4 mph. guess what? a stock RSX type S hits the 1/4 mile in 15.0 @ 94 mph. which means the RSX from a roll theoretically has a better top end since htey trap so close together.

ok i see. next time u should consider just calling it the nsx-r instead on the type-r for less confusion. i generally look at the 1/4 mile, not the 100 mph mark. as for the the nsx-r 1/4 mile time the last time i checked it was running hi 12's, what they did to it was mostly weight reduction.

why is this comparison being made in the first place?
the NSX is a midengine 2 seater made for performance.
the rx8 was made for both performance as well as a family car flavor
the new NSX costs round 90000, the rx8 about 25000

people buy the rx8 so they can drop their kids off at school but still burn some ricer in his civic on the way home.

if any comparison should be made, it should be with the rx-7 and the rx7 can demolish the NSX on the track.

no stock rx-7 can beat a stock nsx. they are from two different classes
here's a link to see the comparison: http://tuneman1.tripod.com/index.html

Im gonna close this one but if you want to compare the NSX & RX7 feel free to start a thread about them
