Hey, Any body with this tire find the right tire pressure while running relitivley unloaded all the time, to atain even tire ware? I have a 2000 Silverado standard cab short wheelbase 4x4. I live in the mountains so this truck gets lots of off road action and alot of highway driving, commuting. I rearly hall a trailer so i cant keep them at 65 psi, that just runs down the middle of the tires. Ive tried everything from 45 to 55, but the lower i go the handling falls off( curvy roads) and the higher pressure i go the more uneven whare i get. Manufacturer just says run them at the specified pressure on side of tire which is 65 max load, with no unloaded pressure recomendations. i rotate regularly and check pressures monthly but tire whare is not even. any ideas????????
I love this truck, and the tires, any help would be appreciated. jack

P.S How do you post pics with threads? I'll show you my baby with snow shoes on....

I also have the 285's on mine and I have found that 55 wears the best. you might want to check the allignment because the pitch is slightly different with the larger tires

Will 285/75/r16 fit on a full size standard 2000 silverado w/out 4x4? Thanks for any replies

It would be really tight and it might rub in the front

In the past, I've worked at a service station that sells/repairs tires for 8 years, so I'm no newbie to tire questions. Personally, I've seen very good results with 35 psi in each tire, which is what I run in my 285 Cooper A/T's. Now if your really picky, put 35 up front, and about 30-32 in the rear(un-loaded) then when you rotate, inflate each tire accordingly.
