power locks open but won't lock 96 Luminashc 12-19-2003, 07:44 PM No power door lock functions work (remote, door lock buttons, auto-lock when putting car in gear). All power Un-Lock funcions work fine. The fuses all look good and I don't see a relay for power locks. Anyone had the same problem? Chevy53 10-19-2004, 02:53 PM I have the same problem that just popped up on my 1995 Lumina APV. Did you ever get your problem solved? pancakefool 10-19-2004, 03:11 PM I had a similar problem in my 98 Lumina that turned out to be short in the locking mechanism. I ignored it for a while until it turned out to be the source of a parasitic power drain that killed the battery a few times. richtazz 10-19-2004, 03:28 PM The relay is located under the glove box on the passenger side, it is about 2-3 inches long and has 6 terminals all in a line. Usually if they work one way and not the other, it's the relay. If you get a Haynes manual, it will walk you through the test proceedure for checking switches and wiring continuity, which should help eliminate a broken wire in the door or a defective switch. Try unplugging the keyless entry receiver (located in the rear shelf between the rear seat and rear window, accessible from the trunk). If they work, you need a new receiver module, if they still don't work, you have a dreaded evil wiring problem that you'll have to track down a harness at a time. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
