Lights under your door handles?Dave09 12-19-2003, 02:32 PM I havent seen one yet but if there was a kit available that had a small lighting system to go under your exterior door handles would you buy it? It would shine straight down like an under glow kit and make it look like the area under the handle was glowing. I think that would look pretty cool. accordztech 12-20-2003, 03:48 AM why cant you put a hole, seal it and put a 194 bulb there? thats a smart idea that i didnt concider till now. i have an alarm and when i disarm the system the dome light is on....i can connect my 194 to that dome light and then have a illuminated door handle...plus a 194 doesnt have much current draw so that you dont have to make any more relays... this would be a nice DIY...almost simple too unusualcivic 12-20-2003, 09:33 AM just use 12v LED's Doubletap 12-20-2003, 11:45 AM That would look awesome. And the same thing with like a remote start. Hook that up so when the car is remote started the door handles would glow... That woud be a very Tastful mod.... DoubleTap Dave09 12-20-2003, 02:05 PM I was wondering becasue i have a patent pending on something like that and i can purchase the full rights to it on monday if i want. Its a lot of money to front so i am trying to see if it will be worth it. Doubletap 12-20-2003, 03:55 PM If you are gonna make a kit put me down for one cause that would be friggin awesome to have... On the other hand isn't it a pian in the ass to break the seal on the door and then redo it? Or is that just if you have to remove the handel assembly? DoubleTap Dave09 12-20-2003, 04:54 PM All i have to do now is find a company to make it for me. pheurton-skeurto 12-20-2003, 09:30 PM sounds cool...how about an AF discount? ponchonutty 12-20-2003, 09:36 PM sounds cool...how about an AF discount? What kind of kit do you think you need??? All you would need is to go to Radio Shack for what every bulbs you need. I would personally go for LED because of their low amperage and plus they never burn out. As far as hook up... Just tie it into what ever you need it to. I would not shell out big bucks for something that really doesn't require a special kit. pheurton-skeurto 12-21-2003, 01:13 AM What kind of kit do you think you need??? I mean, even if you make it as a kit, it will be very labor intensive to install. The hardest part would being running the wires from the doors to inside the cabin. Many DIY people wouldn't want to mess with it. Heck, even taking the door panels off sometimes can be a challenge. At least with Altezza, you only had to unplug the old and plug in the new. Dave09 12-21-2003, 01:38 PM Yeah I think you are right about it being a lot of labor. What is Altezza? pheurton-skeurto 12-21-2003, 05:25 PM Yeah I think you are right about it being a lot of labor. What is Altezza? altezzas are really rare taillights that you hardly ever see on cars. they are clear and replace the stock taillights. they add about as much hp as turbochargers/superchargers/nitrous would. not only do they give your car that "custom" one of a kind look, but when installed, they intercept some of the electrical systems in your car, mainly the ECU. This causes drastic changes in the horsepower department by modifying the air/fuel ratios to your engine, its kind of an 'unexplainable phenominon' throughout the automotive, and more specifically import, world. Laugh not, my friend. According to an insider tip, NIRA and SCCA will soon ban participants using Altezza ('Tez' in the underground world) technology on their vehicles due to the unfair advantage they create. And yes, lighting mods to tend to be overkilled. Altezzas are still public em\nemy #1 in my book, but other culprits are "HID Xenon" (read imitation) bulbs, street glow kits, interior neons, and the blue scrolling LEDs aka Night Rider lights. I myself fell victim to the lure of a Nightrider light to scroll when I turn on my alarm. When I first got it three years ago, I thought I was adding a tasteful and original mod to my car. Now I see them all over the damn place on any variety of busted or riced out vehicle. Still tasteful? I think so on my car. Original? Not any more. :frown: New ideas are always a good thing, its when they fall into the wrong hands that they get a bad rep. But on a positive note, if these lights DO become the next Altezzas, you'll be rich out the ass!!! That is, if you play your cards right. I had it a long time ago. Connected it to my dome light so it would only turn on when I unarm my car... so I can see better if I un-arm my car at night. I took it out because I had an accident a while back and didnt want to re-connect it. eckoman_pdx 12-26-2003, 05:15 AM I've done it... used an LED. I had it a long time ago. I took it out because I had an accident a while back and didnt want to re-connect it. Now I think out it, I saw a really crappy lookin blue 5th gen civic coupe with the excat same thing as that, but oppsite...the lights flashed in the door handle like that, but when the car was alarmed instead....it was definatly funny to see, because the car looked like a complete POS, you know, one of those cars that looks so bad it doesn't need an alarm...and then you see that on there...it was comical to see it on that specific car for that reason...lol...no bashing the idea...just saying it was funny as hell to see it on that car...espeically due to the shape the car was in...I mean, it was bad. Silverbolt 12-26-2003, 10:32 PM it was definatly funny to see, because the car looked like a complete POS, you know, one of those cars that looks so bad it doesn't need an alarm LOL!!!!! hahaha!!! Acutally... I think its pretty ricey. I just did it because I ran out of ideas and things to do... so I just did it to keep myself busy :) eckoman_pdx 12-26-2003, 10:44 PM LOL!!!!! hahaha!!! Acutally... I think its pretty ricey. I just did it because I ran out of ideas and things to do... so I just did it to keep myself busy :) Yea, I agree, it does look ricey. It was the whole princple that made it funny on this car. I mean, the car was awful, he could probably leave the keys in it and come back to it....and then he has the LED alarm lights in the door handles...I mean, it was funny as hell, deserved a "rice cop" ticket....however ricey it seems normally, you can double or triple it on that car...lol. Too bad I didn't have a digital camera so I could snap a pic of it and post it. It would have gone great in the "stupidiest thing you ever saw" thread. It was just plain awful. It's not an image I wanted ingrained into my memory. Heck, no one should have that image in their memory, lol. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
