3 new Tamiya Compounds

I searched for an old thread about it, but couldn't find an appropriate one.

Anyway, I just found out that Tamiya's going to release three types of compound on Jan 28, 2004.

Item 87068 is Coarse, which allows you to smooth somewhat rough surface.
Item 87069 is Fine and it's a versatile compound for polishing the base surface or painted surface.
Item 87070 is either Finish or Polish, which I can't read the text on a tiny image, and it's for mirror surface finish.

Coarse and Fine are priced at 300 yen, while the Finish(Polish) is 600 yen. It's quite an increase from the old compound of only 150 yen, so each of them has to be as good as Seimitsuya or Modelers.

Combining Tamiya Coarse, Fine Finish compounds and Hasegawa's ceramic compound + polymer wax, you can achieve a killer sheen on a model. (I admit, I'm polish fetish. LOL)

Oowww....It must be good stuff because the one they retired is pretty damn good. Especially when used with DM polishing kit and Tamiya wax.

Can't wait..

As if the painting process doesn't take long enough. :) Now 3 stages of compound.

3M makes 3 stage rubbing compound already, for those interested in that. Great stuff, it replaced Tamiya compound for me. Ain't cheap at $8-$10 a pop, but you do get a big bottle (16oz), not a small tube.

So do you use these before, after or instead of sanding with Micro Mesh? :sly:

Yeah, the last one is like super shine, which it said it will leave no marks at all. Mirror finish! The middle one (blue) is just the old one (I think) but they just want 150 yen more from you.
