Results! me vs non-turbo 3000gtNoremac 12-11-2003, 08:47 AM Here in southern Ohio there's many a place to race.. and my friend lives right by an airport where all the street racers go at about 1 o clock.. Well me and this guy take a trip there last night. He had me for a gear and a half even with a decent launch by me, but after that it was all me, ended up around 2 cars ahead.. also got to see a nice race with an Evo vs Sti vs an old z28 camaro rematch.. i have the first race between these 3 cars on tape and it never gets old. damir831 12-11-2003, 07:03 PM Who won the other race? Noremac 12-12-2003, 08:45 AM Who won the other race? The camaro.. Then STI not too far behind..But at the expense of the distributor of the camaro, apparently it got too hot.. hot_red_z28 12-22-2003, 02:55 PM 3rd or 4th gen camaro? Noremac 12-29-2003, 08:25 AM 3rd or 4th gen camaro? it's a 1980 hot_red_z28 12-30-2003, 12:19 AM damn, 1980. Guy must have had some work done to beat an STI. I beat one this past summer/fall, in a best of 3 races, but not by much at all, and the 1980 camaro's didn't have much in the way of power from the factory... apparently what ever he has done has been worth the money... :) Miataracer 12-30-2003, 01:09 AM Yes, as a general rule stock camaros back in the time of the 1980 range sucked even with a V8. The problem was that GM was trying to get the polution control systems up and running but at first they really hurt performance. But I don't doubt the possiblity for a quick 1980 Camaro... I used to have a 1980 for a while myself. When I had it the engine it ran was a really crappy 3.8L V6 with a shot rod bearing. When I sold it the new owner put in a 454 with a tunnel ram. THEN it was a fast car!! inferno 12-30-2003, 09:49 AM You should have beat a non turbo 3000GT by more than that with the mods that you have in your sig....you sure your car is tuned/running right? Also, I don't see how a 3500lb fwd car outlaunched you. Just my two cents. Ricochet 12-30-2003, 11:31 AM You prolly have the same or more power than I do and I can take an SL by about 4-5 cars, even with a hoppy launch... btw what city down south do you guys run in? vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
