Hello all, my buddy has a 89 escort and he recently had to replace a fusible link that had melted. Now when he connects the negative back to the battery it starts to turn over on its own. I think that the wires could be backwards but dont know which ones. Please help, thanks in advance.

Sounds like the starter solenoid is hooked up backwards

check ign, switch.and associated wiring!

I've got him checking for both, but was kind of wondering, if anyone had a digital camera and could take pictures of how the solenoid is wired it would be huge help. My email address is rob.hicks2@us.army.mil. This would let us know for sure. Thanks for all the replies.
